The role
As a Principal Software Systems Engineer, you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary.
Day to day, you'll provide expert software engineering consultancy and leadership to critical engineering programs, as well as:
- Ensuring that an assured engineering lifecycle is applied, including requirements specification, design, production, test, integration, and assurance.
- Producing a documented design specification and ensuring that all other lifecycle documents are produced to a high standard.
- Developing a delivery strategy, roadmaps and work breakdown structures ensuring work is delivered to requisite time, cost, and quality.
- Representing Babcock at stakeholder meetings, Governance forums, Design Reviews and Readiness Assessment activities.
- Building, leading, and managing teams of engineers
This role is full time, 37-hours per week and will be based on site at Ashchurch with hybrid working from home arrangements.
Essential experience of the Principal Software Systems Engineer:
- In-depth knowledge and evidence of the application of Systems and Software Engineering processes on large and complex projects
- Owning and delivering high level design documentation, roadmaps and statements of work for complex software systems (e.g., in the telecommunication industry)
- Through-life design, integration and delivery of complex software systems ideally including network management and orchestration, OSS / BSS, ITIL
- Proactive in your approach, you'll have excellent leadership skills combined with the ability to adapt to a rapidly changing environment with new and exciting challenges each day.
Qualifications for the Principal Software Systems Engineer:
- University degree or equivalent in Electronic Engineering, Computer Science, Telecommunications, or related discipline
The successful candidate must be able to achieve BPSS/SC security clearance for this role.
