The responsibilities of the Technical Compliance Technologist:
• Maintaining the HACCP, Allergen, Segregation, Label & Date Coding Risk Assessment system in line with BRCGS and Customer codes of practise to ensure full documentation.
• Monitor traceability throughout the site, carrying out regular audit with operations and QA, mass balance carried out and results fully communicated. Raise non-conformances for failures identified in traceability ensure route cause analysis and closure of actions to prevent repeat issues. Drive improvements in the traceability system to ensure full compliance to required legal and customer standards.
• Carry out traceability’s for internal and external audits ensuring training provided for all members of the Technical department to provide cover as required for external audits.
• Working with the Technical Process team to ensure Technical compliance for NPD and EPD, contributing to the accuracy of technical risk assessments.
• Carry out scheduled HACCP process validation tasks for new and existing (annual validations) processes (including but not exclusive to: Cooking, Cooling, Freezing, Super Chill, Defrost, Allergen). Ensuring full documentation of validations in the appropriate report format.
• Maintenance of validation equipment to ensure full working order and calibration status
• Carry out Technical project work as requested by BEF Technical management team – Quality improvements, Shelf life, Technical innovation trials, EPD etc.
• To manage the internal audits for systems against BRCGS and Customer standards and to carry out internal audits in line with scheduled requirement
• To work as part of the Technical team responsible for export documentation compliance, including management of export vet/ certification officer visits.
• Work positively and cross functionally with all departments to drive continuous improvement in technical systems
• Fully understand and comply with all department and company policies and guidelines
• Any other duties and projects that may be assigned as deemed necessary to the needs of the business.
The accountabilities of the successful Technical Compliance Technologist
• Technical risk assessments documentation up to date on a weekly basis
• Annual validations completed and documentation up to date on a monthly basis
• Trials attended and processes validated prior to launches
• Project work on target with agreed timelines
• Internal audits managed and completed within required deadlines to approved standard
• This role has a responsibility for food safety, brand integrity and Health and Safety
Essential Criteria:
• Higher education qualification in Food: Science / Quality / Safety
• Minimum one-year experience in food industry QA or Technical role (can be placement year)
• Proficient in the use of Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word
• Fluent English language
• HACCP Level 3 or higher
• Food Safety Level 2 or higher
