Reporting to Chief Legal Officer, the Head of Legal - Operations & Procurement plays a pivotal role in supporting TGE’s extensive operations network. Partnering with the Operations and Procurement teams you will be responsible for overseeing all legal matters relating to those functions including preparing and negotiating key supply agreements, identifying and managing legal risks and advising on compliance matters relevant to the transport industry.
Leading and managing a legal counsel who also supports the Operations and Procurement functions, providing guidance, mentorship, and oversight
Legal Business Partnering to provide accurate and timely advice on all legal matters relating to the Operations and Procurement functions
Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating procurement contracts
Advising on and supporting the development and execution of Operations and Procurement projects and strategies
Staying current with laws applicable to TGE’s operations (eg Chain of Responsibility, WHS) and developing and delivering key governance and legal compliance programs for the Procurement & Operations teams
Identifying and assessing legal risks associated with Operations and Procurement functions and developing strategies to mitigate them
Communicating legal matters and risks effectively to the relevant executives and other stakeholders.
Relevant and locally recognised tertiary qualifications (Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) or Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree)
A minimum of 8 years legal practise with a combination of experience at a reputable mid to top tier law firm and in-house practice highly valued
Deep experience in drafting and negotiating complex supply agreements
Experience in advising on safety governance and compliance issues
Strong influencing and relationship management skills at all stakeholder levels
Proven ability to identify legal risks and develop commercial risk strategies
Ability to lead, mentor, mediate and manage competing interests.
A track record of resolving complex legal issues and disputes efficiently
