Network Engineer II
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and 3 years of successful progressive experience in the area of information systems or equivalent applicable experience required
Bachelor's degree preferred
3 years of successful project management experience preferred
Certification or progress toward certification completion may be required dependent on an
individual's specific position
• Working knowledge of logical and physical networks and related system technology required
• Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
• Ability to work with end users to determine software specifications, hardware requirements and process improvement workflows
• Ability to create system documentation, project plans, test scripts and education materials
• General familiarity of end user business practices, concepts and terminology sufficient to support the applications in a healthcare delivery environment
• Comprehensive working knowledge of application analysis, design, build, deployment, modification, enhancement, support as well as troubleshooting techniques
• Expertise in project management with demonstrated ability to bring assignments to satisfactory conclusion according to defined parameters, and change control, quality and system performance methods and metrics

Work which produces high levels of mental/visual fatigue, e.g., interactive and repetitive or small detailed work requiring alertness and concentration for sustained periods of time, the operation of and full attention to a personal computer or CRT between 40 and 70 percent of the time.

• Participate in and lead the research, planning, installation, configuration, testing, troubleshooting, maintenance, and upgrade of applicable systems. Analyze and evaluate present or proposed business procedures or problems to define data needs. Evaluate identified areas of improvement for feasibility.
• Corrects routine and non-routine computer malfunctions or works with other IT staff and System Coordinators to correct individual problem situations and restore service.
• Develops and maintains collegial relationships with all System Coordinators and IT staff as relates to systems in area of responsibility.
• Keeps abreast of developments in the information systems and communications field and evaluates developments for applicability or incorporation into existing applications.
• Evaluates systems, processing, and development needs and recommends additional equipment or new systems.
• Participates in or leads efforts to resolve or ensure proper escalation during outages or periods of degraded system performance.
• Implements and manages procedures to monitor capacity planning including disk utilization, CPU utilization and throughput; implements and document performance tuning changes.
• Supports and maintains the technical literature library and the related system.
• Serves as multiple subject matter expert and mentor for other analysts.
• Leads team for system activities as assigned.
• Responsible for design, configuration, installation, documentation, upgrades and support of BHG's logical and physical network, including but not limited to: cable plant, servers, domain name service (DNS), remote access services, routers, hubs, switches, LAW/WAN devices, repeaters, transceivers, power subsystems, firewalls, communication servers, terminal servers, internet/intranet/extranet connectivity, addressing schemas, flow priorities, transport protocols and all other systems and procedures used in the enablement of data communications.
• Responsible for design, configuration, installation, documentation, upgrades and support of BHG's departmental and enterprise-wide systems. These systems operation on Windows NT, UNIX, or Novell platforms and include all middleware related to the application, i.e. gateways, interconnected office automation tools, internet, e-mail, and knowledge management applications and single sign-on systems.
• Performs procedures to monitor capacity planning. Assist in implementation and documentation of performance tuning changes.
• Work as a team member with other technical staff, such as networking to ensure connectivity and compatibility between systems.
• Aligns and coordinates resources, priorities, work plans, and activities among the Network Engineers of Information Technology
• Determines work procedures, prepares work schedules, and expedites workflow; studies and standardizes procedures to improve efficiency and effectiveness of IT Network Engineering operations
• Collaborates with the IT Manager in aligning goals, objectives, and work plans for the delivery of timely and quality IT services
• Assist in overseeing administration of Network Engineering Infrastructure and the resources on which it relies on
• Communicates and consults with information technology personnel and advisory groups to administer Network Engineering Infrastructure.
• Builds trust and develops effective working relationships between Core technology team and constituencies ensuring timely and quality IT
• Leads testing and evaluation of new technologies for Network Engineering
• Requires design, configuration, and implementation experience with Cisco IOS routers, Cisco switches, Cisco ASA
• Strong troubleshooting skills to isolate network faults utilizing both packet sniffers and enterprise network analysis tools
• Experience with DNS, WINS and IP management tools
• Established understand of Load Balancers and traffic shaping protocols and tools
• Knowledgeable in configuration and troubleshooting of DLSw, DHCP, NAT, and HSRP protocols
• Ability to design solutions and resolve problems with IP, EIGRP, BGP, RIPv2, DLSw, HSRP, and other protocols
• Experience with T1, DS3, Frame Relay, AVPN, ISDN, DIP T1 and DSL and MPLS data circuits
• Experience configuring and troubleshooting of BGP routing protocol, with multi protocol route redistribution
• Established proficiency of LAN Switching and WLAN 802.11 a/b/g Access Points and Wireless Bridge technology
• Knowledgeable with multi factor authentication and authentication processes and protocols. TACACS+, Radius, LDAP, AD, authentication services, as well as PKI and token/certificate based authentication
• Should possess in-depth understanding of Networking Protocols, routing Protocols, Optical Networking, Hybrid Fiber Coax and DOCSIS Technologies, Security Technologies, Traffic Engineering/Modeling and Data Analysis/Modeling
