What Commercial Technologies Software Engineering contributes to Cardinal Health

Commercial Technologies manages the enterprise's portfolio of commercial technologies to maximize the business value of the technologies and enhance the customer experience. This function creates strategies for the portfolio and innovative solutions based on relationships with business leaders, develops back-end solutions and capabilities, and improves the front-end experience.

Commercial Technologies Software Engineering develops design options, process improvements and back-end solutions for commercial technologies to maximize performance and suitability for business needs. This job family manages engineering projects and plans for commercial technologies and interfaces with product managers to develop objectives. This job family assesses product systems, identifies opportunities for process and system improvements, and develops solutions through application of engineering principles.


Responsibilities

• Servant Leader responsible for managing/coaching agile software development teams in delivery of software products to market.

• Partners with stakeholders and the development team to establish a product roadmap and ensures there is a shared understanding of product/business requirements.’

• Partners with stakeholders to ensure the team is producing a solution that meets established standards, procedures and practices

• Collaborates with stakeholders to aggressively address issues, risks and mitigation plans

• Ensures that software development teams have the resources in place that they need to deliver software products.

• Work with team to estimate and size work, establishes and maintains a burn up against milestones.

• Partners with stakeholders to establish and manage expectations around milestones and schedule.  

• Provide coaching on the adoption and improvement of agile/lean management and engineering practices on teams.

• Encourage collaboration and proactively seek opportunities to improve collaboration

• Tracks and ensures visibility of historical team metrics and progress of the Iteration and release

• Assists with internal and external communication by transparently radiating information, especially relative to historical team metrics, progress towards Iteration and release goals, and team capacity

• Optimizes, increases and sustains throughput, ensuring prioritization of work by value and risk

• Is collaborative in driving decisions and team behavior, guarding against making decisions and assignments for the team and instead creates and environment where teams have the context needed to make the best decision

• Ensures iteration-based meetings are effectively facilitated, the outcomes are achieved and their cadence is maintained

• Assists team with making appropriate commitments through story selection, sizing and tasking

• Proactively identifies and removes blockers, limits work in progress and prevents distractions

• Facilitates frequent retrospectives, sharing metrics to identify and implement improvements

• Coordinates release and sprint planning.

• Assists team members with career management and human resources issues.

• Coaches and manages individual performance of team members.

• Provides leadership and guidance to coach, motivate, and lead team members to their optimum performance levels and career development.

Qualifications

• 8-12 years of experience preferred, with prior experience as a people manager leading data engineers and/or data scientists

• BA, BS or equivalent experience in related field preferred. Advance Degree preferred

• Deep understanding of database technologies, modeling and ETL pipelines

• Preferred experience working with EHR data to garner clinical insights

• Experience with FHIR a plus

• High level understanding of large language models

• Prior experience working with healthcare data required

• Strong capability to manage multiple priorities

Anticipated salary range: $119,800 - $171,100

In this vital role you will be oversee our Functional Services Provider (FSP) focusing on operational excellence and delivering projects on time to the levels of high quality and compliance. You will coordinate the execution and quality of projects managed by FSP and ensure that projects are prioritized according to the product strategy.

• Responsible for projects managed by our FSP partners per Amgen Global Statistical Programming (GSP) Quality Oversight Plan (QOP)
• Ensure that FSP programming meets quality, compliance, timeline, and productivity expectations
• Align FSP assignments with Amgen Development priorities
• Responsible for FSP performance metrics development, data collection, and reporting and lead the GSP continuous improvement initiatives

Preferred Qualifications:

• Masters Degree in Statistics/Biostatistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Life Sciences or other relevant scientific subject with least 6 years of statistical programming experience in biopharmaceutical industry
• Extensive SAS programming and reporting experience including SAS Base, Macro, STAT, Graph, and SQL, among others
• Detailed understanding of clinical trial processes in the biopharmaceutical industry, from data collection to analysis reporting
• Ability to lead programmers in successful completion of all study programming activities and provide guidance on technical and process related questions
• Experience working in a globally dispersed team on Phase 1-4 clinical trials
• Experience creating SDTM and ADaM data sets, Tables, Figures and Listings
• Ability to define and implement an effective standardization strategy for a product following the latest CDISC SDTM, ADaM and define standards.
• Familiarity with other programming languages such as R and Python
• In-depth knowledge of SAS/Graph and STAT
• Regulatory submission experience andVendor and resource management experience
• Detailed understanding of data compliance checks such as Pinnacle 21
