What is the Role?

The System Performance group at SSEN Transmission has an opportunity for a System Integration Manager (Power System Analysis) to lead a team providing detailed study support for major projects connecting to the transmission system in the north of Scotland. This role will involve the management of power system analysis specialists and the coordination of their activities with project teams and other parts of the business. The team will carry out the full range of studies required to ensure that complex projects such as HVDC, FACTS and new major AC reinforcements can be successfully integrated within our system.

The key duties & responsibilities will include:

- Plan and oversee the delivery of complex power system studies covering areas such as power quality, system stability and electromagnetic transients.

- Show technical leadership within the team and oversee the implementation of the quality assurance process for study work.

- Liaise with project teams, operational colleagues and equipment suppliers.

- Provide line management for the System Integration team members.

- Represent SSEN Transmission in external meetings and on industry workgroups.

What do I need?

To be considered for this role, we would love you to have:

- Experience in power system analysis, design and planning, ideally within the electricity transmission area, with working knowledge of the relevant industry and technical standards.

- A good understanding of power system modelling and analysis with experience in at least three of the following areas: load flow and short circuit calculations, dynamic (RMS) simulation, power quality and system monitoring, EMT simulation for transients, EMT simulation for control interaction studies and automation scripting.

- Experience of managing complex technical study work and line management.

- Excellent knowledge of the electricity industry, including interfaces with the regulator, the Electricity System Operator, other Transmission Owners and Distribution Network Operators.

- A degree in electrical engineering or related numerical discipline and ideally be a Chartered Engineer with a relevant institution and the ability to write clear and well-structured technical reports and specifications and provide focused information for senior management.

As a Trainee Project Manager, you will have the opportunity to gain practical knowledge into a Project Managers responsibility for the end-to-end delivery of projects.

This 2 year programme is designed to develop your understanding on delivering projects in line with clear objectives and making decisions to manage stakeholder expectations by working with a multi-skilled team to deliver the project to time, cost and quality requirements.

Completion of the Trainee Project Management programme can lead to career development within SSEN Transmission as an Assistant Project Manager while you build your experience to progress to become a Project Manager. You will be leading Large Capital Projects, delivering substation, overhead line and cable projects ranging in value from £10m to £2bn.

You will gain real hands-on experience, build an invaluable network, and develop a unique set of skills which will shape your career. About the Role

About the Department

SSE Renewables Offshore Asset Management operates SSE's Offshore wind fleet. The team keeps power flowing safely and efficiently to ensure that offshore wind plays its part in delivering SSE's strategy, goals and NZAP+ programme.

The Asset Integrity team is a key component of Offshore Asset Management. We are a group of Engineers that look after the short and long-term performance of our turbines, structures, power systems and SCADA, from an efficiency and integrity point of view. Our work is focused on ensuring the assets perform at their best and this encompasses a wide range of engineering activities, from day-to-day system operations through to long term project-based campaigns and programs.

What is the Role?

Reporting to the Offshore Head of Asset Integrity, the Technical Asset Manager is accountable for the lifetime integrity management of all Electrical and SCADA assets across the offshore portfolio. This includes the definition and implementation of the asset integrity management strategy as well as providing leadership on all engineering and technical management activities within field of expertise.

This role will provide line management and leadership across a team of around 10 Engineers and Lead Engineers.

Main accountabilities may include:

- Ensure that all works are planned and managed within relevant SSE SHE management standards and act as a safety role model.

- Accountable for the development and implementation of the lifetime asset integrity management plan for all electrical and SCADA assets. This includes, maintenance strategy definition, operational decision making, resource planning and commercial and risk management, budget definition and financial management.

- Asset performance optimisation; ensuring all activities are planned and managed to minimise downtime and maximise asset reliability and yield.

- Senior stakeholder management and reporting.

- Leadership and development of a high performing team of Engineers and Lead Engineers, supporting team development and growth.

What do I need?

To be considered for this role, we would love you to have:

- Significant experience in general business processes such as planning, risk management, budgeting, reporting, HR management, procurement & commercial management and business improvement.

- Strong customer focus and a passion for excellent customer service.

- A track record in leading and developing high performing technical teams.

- Degree qualified in a relevant technical subject and holding Chartership of a relevant institution or be able to demonstrate alternative relevant experience.

- Experience managing large scale technical projects, ideally in an offshore environment.
