In the Asia Pacific region there has seen a surge in the adoption of payments using QR code. This growth is driven by multiple factors such as - the widespread use of smartphones, increasing penetration of internet services and, adoption of QR by the real-time payment networks and fintech. This growth in QR code payments in not isolated in the Asia Pacific region. It is picking pace globally and, the trend is expected to continue in the coming years.
Visa is establishing it’s Centre of Excellence in Singapore which will spearhead Visa’s QR participation in this growing trend. A dedicated team will provide strategic direction, thought leadership, product and execution support, best practices, and oversight for QR based payment for Visa. While Asia Pacific region will be its operating and learning ground, the remit of this Center of Excellence will be global. This team will templatize its learning in the region and help shape market responses globally. The person in this Director - QR Product Management position is one of the team members of this CoE and, will be responsible to managing Visa’s QR product and report to the lead of Center of Excellence based in Singapore.
What does a Director – QR Product Management does at Visa:
In your Product Management role, you will be is responsible for guiding the success of a QR product. This is a techno-commercial role spanning many types of activities, from strategic to tactical. The key expectations for the role are:
- You will be the subject matter expert on QR product. On a proactive basis you will often play the role of training and mentoring staff and, on a reactive basis you would be their go-to person for QR related questions or, problem solving.
- You will also be the advocate for Visa’s QR solutions, conducting sales pitches, workshop and training with varied players in the ecosystem including clients, merchants, regulators, and Visa’s various functional units.
- You will directly collaborate with key clients in the region and participate in their QR deployment journey. To drive adoption of QR code, you will provide them with user experience best practices, identifying right balance between convenience and security, onboarding processing or, help identify how Visa’s solution fit in their existing architecture.
- You will be expected to develop and maintain accurate, high-quality content for Sales pitches, implementation guides for Clients, internal implementation processes and, product marketing material.
- In this role you will closely monitor market trends, identify emerging opportunities, conduct periodic consumer and merchant research to remain current at all times. These activities will guide the QR product development roadmap for which you would be responsible.
- As you work with market team, clients and partners, you will also gather requirements for enhancing Visa’s QR offering. To translate these requirements into new capabilities, you will work with our internal new product development teams.
- Visa has a strong focus on growing value-added services. You will identify and commercialize different value-added services overlaying the QR payment transaction.
- You will manage the on-going components of product management such as publishing road map, billing and reporting, maintaining documentation and handling exceptions.

The QR is one of the key initiatives for maintaining Visa’s payment leadership position in everyday spend. This role will be Visa’s subject matter expert on QR based payment over Visa’s network. The person in this role would not only be handful few subject matter experts in the company but will shape Visa’s QR solution and commercial success in this area.
