This position is located in the Sign Factory at the Federal Correctional Institution (FCI) in Cumberland, Maryland. The incumbent is primarily involved in work for the purpose of production of quality interior architectural signage, imprinting of promotional products, engraving of award and recognition items, and manufacture of digital license plates for various agencies of the federal government, including the military, by utilizing an all inmate work force.
The incumbent is responsible for the technical and administrative supervision of an all-inmate work force accomplishing trades and labor work in the manufacture of a finished product according to the requirements of production schedule. The incumbent will train inmate workers in the production of quality interior architectural signage, promotional items, plaques, name badges, nameplates and license plates. The incumbent assigns, directs and reviews the work of the inmates on the work crew. The incumbent must plan, schedule and coordinate work operations under the supervision of the Assistant Factory Manager, and solve work related problems in addition to determining the materials and equipment necessary to produce the final product.
Along with all other correctional institution employees, incumbent is charged with responsibility for maintaining security of the institution. The staff correctional responsibilities precede all others required by this position and are performed on a regular and recurring basis.
