TeacherActive is proud to be working in partnership with an Ofsted-rated ‘Good’ SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) school located in the peaceful rural town of Ledbury. This independent specialist day school supports children and young people aged 11-19 who face a range of challenges, including SEMH needs, communication difficulties, ADHD, oppositional defiant disorder (ODD), and specific learning difficulties (SpLD), among others. It is a place where every lesson, especially practical ones, makes a real impact.
We are currently seeking an enthusiastic, qualified Food Technology Teacher who can inspire and guide learners in the kitchen, encouraging them to develop not only their culinary skills but also their confidence, teamwork, and creativity. You will have the unique opportunity to engage with students who benefit from a nurturing approach and practical learning, turning the kitchen into a classroom full of possibilities.
The successful Food Technology Teacher will have:
• Experience working with children and young people with SEMH needs, ADHD, ASD, or additional learning difficulties.
• A recognized teaching qualification (Certificate in Education / PGCE / QTS) with a focus on Food Technology, Design Technology, or related subjects.
• The ability to plan and deliver a balanced and inclusive curriculum in both classroom-based and practical cooking sessions.
• Passion for teaching young people essential life skills through food preparation, hygiene, nutrition, and creative culinary arts.
• Experience in incorporating Functional Skills into vocational learning, helping students gain essential qualifications.
• Strong interpersonal skills and a positive approach to building relationships with vulnerable students.
• The ability to work collaboratively with a supportive team of staff and other professionals.
• Own vehicle or ability to travel to the site.
