The Department of Computer Science is looking to employ a Postdoctoral Researcher to work within an interdisciplinary team on securing convergent ultra-large scale infrastructures (SCULI). The SCULI project is a research collaboration between University of Oxford, University of Bristol and the University of Lancaster that will be working closely with stakeholders and organisations from industry and the critical national infrastructure sectors.

The project is investigating how to secure emerging ultra-large scale digital infrastructures which are seeing convergence and connectivity at unprecedented scale. This is true for both current critical national infrastructures and emerging future systems, e.g., smart cities, intelligent transportation, high-value manufacturing and Industry 4.0. Cybersecurity of such ultra-large scale infrastructures faces unprecedented complexity. Diverse legacy and non-legacy software and hardware compose on-the-fly to deliver services to millions of users with varying requirements and unpredictable actions. This complexity is compounded by intricate supply-chains and the need to deliver resilient operations in the presence of untrusted, partially trusted or compromised elements.

The successful candidate will be required to work primarily under the direction of Professor Ivan Flechais, with guidance from other senior academics and will be based in the Oxford team focused on the following research objectives:

• Predictability at ultra-large scale: How to elicit, specify and validate security assurances for service composition in the presence of uncertainty, dynamism and human behaviour (including addressing direct and indirect dependencies and resulting systemic risks)?

It is essential that successful candidate would hold a relevant PhD/DPhil or being close to completion in computer science or information systems.

Working in the Environmental Controls (EC) service, you will assess our clients for specialist hi-tech disability equipment to help control computers and home appliances. This role focuses on independence, and gives an opportunity to be client-centred, and achieve positive outcomes for people. It would suit OTs with a keen interest in technology, who are either recently qualified, or looking for a new challenge.



The post holder will :
• Hold an independent caseload, and assess clients for the most appropriate equipment to help them access their home appliances and computer equipment
• Assist senior members of the team with complex assessments where access method or technical setup is more involved
• Conduct annual reviews to ensure safe and optimal use of the equipment provided to patients, from both a clinical and technical point of view

As required, the post holder will assist with:
• Setting up, installing and withdrawing equipment, ensuring each setup is tailored to individual patient needs
• Providing first line technical support and troubleshooting for patients

Work may be carried out by phone, video, or face-to-face with clients. Main Tasks and Responsibilities
Clinical

Technical
• Have a good working knowledge and understanding of the range of equipment issued by the service, and be confident and competent in its use and limitations. • Computer Access (CA) software from 3rd party companies, such as Grid 3, Dragon dictation
• alternative methods for accessing EC and computer hardware and software, including, but not limited to, eye gaze, switch access, alternative mice and headmice, alternative joysticks
• accessibility features of operating systems including Windows, MacOS, Android, and iOS
• equipment to mount and position EC and CA devices, such as floor stands, wheelchair mounts, and desk stands
• specialist wheelchair controls, such as head switches, light-touch joysticks, and chin joysticks
• bespoke electronic equipment manufactured within SDS
• Have sufficient dexterity, coordination, keyboard skills, and use of specialist tools to be able to operate the above

Technology Department

Due to the expansion of the school, an opportunity has become available for a suitable candidate to join the Technology Department. The person appointed will join a lively, enthusiastic and academically successful Department, which at present comprises four full-time and one part-time members of teaching staff with four technicians for Technology, one of whom is shared with the Drama Department.

Technology is currently taught in a suite of five rooms and new facilities became available in 2018-19. We have a wide range of resources available, and we encourage a variety of teaching methods to be used in the classroom. We embrace new approaches to teaching and develop those that prove successful.

The successful candidate will lead the Technology Team and be supported by their SLT Line Manager and Deputy Headteacher (Curriculum and Staffing). They will also have the opportunity to shape and develop the staffing structure required to continue to support all technology staff to ensure the highest standards of curriculum delivery are maintained and developed for all our students.

Lower School Technology

As students start the school, we introduce students to some new and some familiar materials, techniques and equipment. Across the whole of Year 7 we visit the different stages of the design process, exposing students to situations which will develop their understanding of the stages and developing creativity and resilience. Students rotate through a carousel of Food Preparation and Nutrition, Textiles and Product Design in both Year 7 and Year 8. The core of every material area is the design process which develops skills in:

• Generation, development and communication of ideas
• Creative response and problem solving of briefs and tasks
• Applying knowledge and understanding of materials and processes
• Reflection and evaluation of own designing

Students in Year 8 revisit the three areas of Design Technology. Within the schemes of work, students have the opportunity to revisit parts of the design process in order to reflect on prior learning and develop independence and resilience to make progression. Students use their learning of materials, techniques and equipment to make design decisions that are enriched by a wide range of research techniques that support the students to work creatively. By the end of Year 8 students will have a portfolio of design solutions that will evidence their analytical, theoretical and practical capabilities within the context of design, as well as prepare them for their studies across all subjects.

Upper School

Year 9

Students visit each area of Design Technology (Food Preparation and Nutrition, Textiles and Design Technology) Student sample the GCSE in each of those areas so that they can make informed option choices. Students have the opportunity to experience the learning concepts and skills that transition into each of the GCSE courses that we offer in years 10 & 11. The curriculum offers students a snapshot of what to expect in each of the GCSEs as well as developing higher level practical skills and learning.

Years 10 and 11

The department offers courses in:

Design and Technology- Using iterative design to create systems, products and services that fulfill user needs whilst considering sustainability, ergonomics and manufacture. The students complete design briefs that respond to real world issues through research, analysis and product development.

Textiles Design – Students use inspiration to design and develop a portfolio demonstrating a range of complex skills that they then use to inform the design and manufacture of a textiles outcomes. Students create a sketch book that enables them to present their design journey developing their reflective and analytical skills. Students learn how to develop an idea through using research and testing.

Food Preparation and Nutrition – Students learn a range of skills and techniques to create food products. Students learn about food safety, nutrition and complex techniques. Students carry out a large number of practical activities that enable them to refine their skills as well as their understanding of the science behind the ingredients.

All of these courses are underpinned by the same generic process of designing but the material areas create different challenges that give the opportunity to be creative, innovative and develop design solutions. There is a huge emphasis on problem solving and recognising the moral, social, cultural and environmental issues within design, as a product can, in reality, have both a positive and negative effect on our society.

In carrying out projects, students will develop planning and presentation skills. Using a variety of media, including ICT, students will produce a portfolio of work that will demonstrate their ability to communicate in a variety of ways.

The group has responsibility for managing the Trust's radiation assurance programme, which includes Trust-wide departmental radiation compliance audits, research assurance and radiation incident management.

JOB SUMMARY: The post holder will be responsible for assisting with technical business support duties within Medical Physics & Clinical Engineering and Radiotherapy Physics. The role will involve implementing operational procedures and will require a high degree of organisational skills and a working knowledge of business management systems within a scientific environment, providing support for quality, radiation assurance, governance and incident management within MPCE. The post holder will support the radiation assurance programme for MPCE.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Responsibilities
1.1 To take day-to-day responsibility for supporting the radiation research assurance service.
1.2 To support radiation and computing-related scientific & technical services within Medical Physics & Clinical Engineering.
1.3 To assist with services supporting the operational management of the Medical Physics & Clinical Engineering department.
1.4 To support the departmental audit activities.
1.5 To assist with the operation and management of the quality management system in line with departmental policies and procedures
1.6 To assist with the delivery of the personal dosimetry service
1.7 To assist with the delivery of the radioisotope ordering service
1.8 To support the department's CPD programme

6. General
6.1 To ensure compliance with the policies and procedures in the areas of work for which the postholder carries responsibility. Participate in the development and routine operation of such procedures.
6.2 Occasionally lift moderately heavy, cumbersome equipment for several short periods during a shift.
6.3 When working in other departments, the post holder will liaise with local heads of department, superintendents, nursing and management staff, adhering to local policies and practices. The postholder will behave courteously and professionally at all times and seek to ensure that the highest level of service is provided by their team.
6.4 Work the hours necessary for the proper and efficient work performance within the flexible working system set up in the Department.

MDT Management & Patient Pathway Coordination Prepare and circulate lists of patients for discussion at each multi-disciplinary team meeting (MDT) using information provided by relevant parties in a timely manner. To be responsible for ensuring the accurate and complete collection and management of the minimum data set for all patients to be discussed at MDT and to ensure all patient pathways are correctly mapped and appropriately tracked. To attend the MDT meetings, keeping comprehensive records of attendance and outcomes of the meeting, and distributing to relevant team members in a timely manner. Network Lead for the National Vascular Database to ensure information is accurately recorded and audited, and provide training on NVR data entry to staff members across the network. To ensure that all operational changes affecting the MDT are communicated effectively to all members of the MDT and other interested parties To check with the MDT Lead Clinician that all the information is correct and complete. To acquire Lead Clinician sign-off of all MDT outcomes. Collection and interpretation of patient information from notes and MDTs in order to complete data. Maintain filing systems for MDTs enabling the team to easily and efficiently access core information To act as the patient navigator and follow the patient journey from referral, through diagnosis, to treatment. Bookings To book elective admissions, pre-operative assessments, diagnostics and post-operative clinics and investigations for patients when required. Other duties Assist in project work and in producing ad hoc reports. To identify own training and development needs and undertake appropriate training/education as required. Undertake any other duties requested as appropriate to the banding.
