The Pharmacy Technical Services Department have a vacancy for a Band 3 Pharmacy Technical Services Stores Assistant to work within our unit. Working in our specialist facility you will be part of a dedicated team preparing vital medicines for our patients. You will be responsible for maintaining stocks of high cost chemotherapy and radiotherapy drugs and assist in the preparation of injectable medicines such as chemotherapy, intravenous nutrition and other life-saving therapies for our patients. You will also learn new skills giving you the opportunity to progress a career in the science and manufacturing field.

Once fully trained and competent, undertake all stock control activities in pharmacy technical services to ensure stocks of high-cost chemotherapy drugs are available for manufacture. You will also participate in the transportation of radiotherapy and chemotherapy. You will participate in dispensing and checking responsibilities for the manufacture of a range of sterile injectable medicines which will include hazardous products such as cancer chemotherapy agents or radioactive materials, and less hazardous products such as nutrition and aseptic medicines.

Under the guidance of the Specialist Procurement and Stock Control Administrative Officer Technical Services ensure all stock management activities within PTSU are undertaken. Participate in the transportation of chemotherapy and radiotherapy from the unit to the main hospital following all necessary regulations.

Under the direction of the Lead Technicians act as a supervisor and mentor to other pharmacy staff, including trainees, working within Technical Services covering the day-to-day activities in support of the daily manufacturing requirements of the Technical Services unit.

Through application of aseptic manipulation skills, prepare an extensive range of sterile injectable medicines and prepare non-sterile products for release.

Participate in the daily, weekly, monthly or six monthly cleaning activities associated with maintaining the unit to strict Good Manufacturing Practice guidelines.

Accurate prescription and worksheet data inputting- Accurately dispense medicines, ensuring the correct medicines are dispensed to the correct patients and booked out to the correct ward using the electronic stock control and labelling system(s).

Under the direction of the Lead or Senior Technicians’ support the training of assistants and new members of staff as they rotate through the different production areas to a level where those staff are ready for assessment.

Support transport/distribution of stock and stock control/storeroom duties. This includes checking stock is in date and appropriately stored.

Under the guidance of the Specialist Procurement and Stock Control Administrative Officer Technical Services ensure all stock management activities within PTSU are undertaken. Participate in the transportation of chemotherapy and radiotherapy from the unit to the main hospital following all necessary regulations. Under the direction of the Lead Technicians act as a supervisor and mentor to other pharmacy staff, including trainees, working within Technical Services covering the day-to-day activities in support of the daily manufacturing requirements of the Technical Services unit. Through application of aseptic manipulation skills, prepare an extensive range of sterile injectable medicines and prepare non-sterile products for release. Participate in the daily, weekly, monthly or six monthly cleaning activities associated with maintaining the unit to strict Good Manufacturing Practice guidelines. Accurate prescription and worksheet data inputting- Accurately dispense medicines, ensuring the correct medicines are dispensed to the correct patients and booked out to the correct ward using the electronic stock control and labelling system(s). Under the direction of the Lead or Senior Technicians support the training of assistants and new members of staff as they rotate through the different production areas to a level where those staff are ready for assessment. Support transport/distribution of stock and stock control/storeroom duties. This includes checking stock is in date and appropriately stored.

We are looking for an Occupational Therapy Technician to provide assessment, rehabilitation and discharge planning service to the front door and acute wards at RCHT.

This is a full time post working 37.5 hours per week with weekend cover on a rota basis.

You will be responsible for contributing to the delivery of excellent care, rehabilitation and providing support to therapists. Case load will be allocated and indirectly supervised by the relevant qualified therapist.

Patient management will include responsibility for the delivery of care including delegated assessments, implementation, evaluation and progression of rehabilitation programs, assisting discharge planning, liaison with patients, family, members of the MDT and external agencies. You will also need to have good time management prioritisation skills, and flexibility.

You will need experience within a care setting, as well as an NVQ Level IIl in Health Care (or equivalent). You will ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. You will have basic IT skills as the service operates with Electronic records, and be able to work without direct supervision within the bounds of the Rehabilitation Technician role.

You will be integral to the team and have a key role in its delivery and assisting Clinical leads in Service delivery. Post holders will be expected to complete the competencies frameworks associated with the post. You will have support from the Senior clinicians, the Clinical Lead, with access to supervision and in-service training opportunities.
