We care about cyber security and it\'s critical that we protect our data and systems. You’ll receive specific cyber security training and projects to work on, so you can develop your skills and knowledge. You’ll work as part of a global cyber security team, collaborating with, and learning from, a range of specialists.

Our cyber security team protect our organisation. We use the newest technologies to increase visibility and protection of systems, services and data. To do this, we need to stay ahead of the latest threats and continuously improve our tooling, procedures, and processes. We work in collaboration with our software and systems engineering teams to support security throughout the development lifecycle. We also build proactive monitoring and responses to security events.

You will be responsible for

During your 10-week paid summer programme, we will provide you with a broad variety of responsibilities. Your placement will be in one of our security functions, ranging from security operations to vulnerability management, security testing, or monitoring and capability. You’ll have the opportunity to work on incident response, security platforms, cyber assurance and much more. You’ll also contribute to a global cyber defence effort by evaluating, securing systems, and responding to incidents.

Job Overview

-To protect our customer's property, people and/or assets by providing security services in direct accordance with the sites published Assignment Instructions (AI's) and any subsequent changes.

-Delivering results that meet and / or exceed the Key performance indicators / Service Level Agreement for the customer through full responsibility and accountability, providing a service that aids in the retention of the contract.

-To undertake additional training to ensure continuous self-development.

Main Duties

Operations

-To be aware of and ensure compliance with all aspects of policies and relevant legal and regulatory requirements as directed by the Security Account Manager and in accordance with UK Law and Guidance bodies.

-Fully and satisfactorily complete all of the tasks and duties on site as defined within the published Assignment Instructions (AI's).

-Proactively refer to and review the published Assignment Instructions, thus familiarising oneself with any changes in order to suggest additional amendments that will improve or enhance the current level of service.

-To be compliant with Industry and Statutory Legislation (you are required to obtain a front-line licence in either Security Guarding or Door Supervision), which must be worn at all times whilst carrying out your duties. The Customer also requires a CCTV PSS SIA Licence. There are also additional courses that are contractually required.

-Comply with legal obligations and safety requirements of the role.

-Follow instructions and procedures appropriately without unnecessarily challenging authority.

-Work in a systematic, methodology and orderly way.

Training

-Fully and satisfactorily complete all required competency training.

-To undertake additional training to ensure continuous self-development as directed by the Security Account Manager.

-Use technology to achieve key work objectives and develop job knowledge and expertise through continual professional development.

-You are required to ensure you renew your licence 16 weeks before expiry.

Security and Health & Safety

-Look out for, and to immediately report, any Health & Safety hazards, or potential hazards, on site.

-Stay alert to any threats or changes within the work environment in order to take the appropriate action to reduce the chance of disruption, loss or damage.

-Use common sense and initiative by immediately involving others if a situation appears to become threatening.

-To maintain professional conduct in the face of difficult situations and challenging customers.

-Complete an accurate, detailed notebook entry as soon as possible after any incident, which can then be used as part of the Incident Report process.

-Keep to schedules and demonstrate commitment to Mitie and the Client.

There is no guarantee of a band 6 post on completion of training. However, within the contract you will be expected to apply for available public health nursing posts in Hertfordshire on qualifying and remain in post for 2 years.

Unless there are exceptional circumstances (as decided by the Trust) or you are not offered a position within HCT, you will be liable to pay back, within 2 years of completing the course, all or a proportion of the Course Fees (currently estimated to be £4000) to the Trust in the following circumstances:

a) if you cease employment before you attend the course but the Trust has already incurred liability for some or all of the Course Fees; or

b) if you cease employment prior to completing the course or fail to successfully complete the course; or

c) if you do not take up permanent employment within the Trust as a qualified public health nurse on successful completion of the course when positions were available: or

d) if you take up permanent employment within the trust but do not remain in employment for at least 24 months after the date on which you begin permanent employment.

Placements will be offered county wide and will be decided once all interviews have taken place. Please see the attached Locality map. Whilst we take into consideration where you live, placements may require you to travel anywhere in Hertfordshire. The Trust will pay your course fees which includes but is not limited to, mandatory fees (including the index fee), community practice assessor costs, travel expenses when in clinical placement only, recruitment and/or management support costs and other ancillary costs incurred to support you through the course as the Trust may decide (the “Course Fees").

There is no guarantee of a band 6 post on completion of training. However, within the contract you will be expected to apply for available public health nursing posts in Hertfordshire on qualifying and remain in post for 2 years.
