The Opportunity
We are looking for a Technical Planning Lead to join our nuclear energy business. You will join the Regulatory Interface and External Oversight (RI&EO) department in EDF Nuclear Generation Limited (NGL), which exists to provide independent (of the line) governance, oversight and support for regulatory and external oversight interfaces in the pursuit of safe, reliable operations supporting EDF’s existing nuclear operations fleet through to defueling. Managing and improving our regulatory and oversight areas is a key component to Great British Nuclear success within the UK nuclear industry.
The position interfaces with all NGL leaders and teams as well as regulatory authorities.
Technical Planning is a fundamental activity for RI&EO, as it supports the business regulatory deliverables to meet our Licensee responsibilities; as well as providing the necessary data to enable key decision making for work prioritisation and safety performance.
This role is based out of our Gloucester Business Park office and will be working to a hybrid model.

What you’ll be doing
As a Technical Planning Lead, you will:
- Maintain an overview of regulatory interactions for ONR, EA and SEPA for EDF Energy NGL
- Through analysis and discussion, identify key themes and trends
- Develop and implement a communication plan to ensure stakeholders are appropriately informed of regulatory concerns and issues
- Be able to understand high level technical relevance to safety and security so a risk based approach to prioritisation can be advised to stakeholders
- Interpret data and information from differing sources to highlight key areas for focus
- Develop and manage high level regulatory, cross functional and cross licensee meetings as required
- Develop, through discussions with stakeholders at all levels appropriate agendas and content for the regulatory meetings
- Provide independent governance and oversight on regulatory matters as required.
Who you are
As a minimum, you will have a HNC or equivalent in a technical subject.
You will have working experience coordinating and planning strategic meetings and overseeing the identification of business focus areas for an organisation based on input gathered from stakeholders throughout the company and establishing metrics for evaluating results.
You will have a track record of working within a multi-stakeholder environment, presenting complex information to varied audiences in a simple and effective way, monitoring and influencing for positive outcomes, experience of leading or embedding best practice assurance processes in a complex business environment. You have the ability to drive and implement effective change and continuous improvement activities to achieve organisational objectives, managing deployment of strategies across business units.
A high levels of strategic awareness is required to proactively and effectively develop strong relationships with internal stakeholders and exemplary analytical skills, with experience in analysing business information to identify trends, handle large data sets and develop and present complex information in a clear and concise manner, for decision-making.
You will have good problem-solving skills and ability to use both logic and intuition to derive solutions for the business and a strong attention to detail with accurate record keeping and / or awareness of governance frameworks. You will also be able to priorities and deliver within timescales, adjusting for competing priorities where required. You will have experience of working in cross-functional teams and an ability to effectively collaborate with colleagues across multiple disciplines.
