About The Role

The Coal Authority’s Public Safety and Subsidence Team manage over 1000 new projects every year relating to the historic liabilities of the Coal Mining industry throughout the UK.

This role is located in the central belt of Scotland and we would require someone who lives in this area.
Due to the locations of our sites a full driving license is essential and some flexibility to travel/work nationally at times.

Join us as an MQ Project Analyst

• You’ll be designing and building MQ systems to support the many applications using these systems, working with our Middleware MQ project team in a large and complex support environment
• You’ll be supporting the platforms’ operational stability and technology performance, including maintaining any system’s utilities and tools provided by the platform

What you'll do

As an MQ Project Analyst, you’ll be supporting the team’s activities to make sure that the platform integrity is maintained in line with technical roadmaps, while supporting change demands from domains or centres of excellence. You’ll be contributing to and supporting the delivery of a robust production management service for relevant infrastructure platforms.

In addition, you’ll be contributing to the delivery of customer outcomes, innovation and early learning by contributing to test products and services to identify early on if they are viable and deliver the desired outcomes.

Your role will involve:

• Contributing to the platform risk culture, making sure that risks are discussed and understood at every step, and effectively collaborating to mitigate risk
• Designing, building and maintaining our MQ systems to customer requirements as well as supporting our application teams with testing and resolving issues
• Integrating our MQ systems with other software and linking them to external customers and partners
• Participating and seeking out opportunities to simplify the platform infrastructure, architecture, services and customer solutions, guarding against introducing new complexity
• Building relationships with platform, domain and relevant cross-domain stakeholders
• Making sure that controls are applied and constantly reviewed, primarily against SOX, to ensure full compliance to all our policies and regulatory obligations

The skills you'll need

To succeed in this role, you’ll need to be a very capable communicator with the ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly to colleagues, including management level. You’ll need a solid background working in an Agile or DevOps environment with continuous delivery and continuous integration. IIB running on RedHat Linux and Solaris is desirable

We’ll also look to you to demonstrate:

• Strong experience of MQ infrastructure design, configuration, and delivery of MQ infrastructure on Z/os and, Unix as well as experience of MQ clustering, shared queues, pub/sub and AMS
• Experience of working with third party vendors, SSL certificates
• Knowledge of relevant industry standard toolsets and processes to drive up customer service within an IT environment
• An understanding of operational principles

Your new role
As Project Manager, you will be operationally responsible for the delivery of complex refurbishment projects. Depending on the size of the project, you could be working as part of a team or delivering the project yourself. Reporting to a Contracts Director, you will be responsible for deploying and managing your team of site managers and subcontractors in the delivery of refurbishment work on projects in Scotland. From managing and reviewing the construction programme to working with key external stakeholders such as architects, engineers and clients, you will play a key role in the delivery of these projects. As Project Manager, you will ensure a positive atmosphere is developed on-site, supporting company quality and health and safety policies.

What you'll do

The skills you'll need

You’ll need to hold an appropriate business analyst certification, such as BAX, CPRE and CBAP. You should be comfortable working with ambiguity and have the ability to pay keen attention to detail and drive progress at pace.

It’ll be ideal if you have experience of working with large scale automation or AI and strategies that are tangible and grounded, as will be a background in business design and experience of Agile processes and ceremonies.

You’ll also need:

• Experience of applying business analysis tools and techniques to include the use of a wide range of data such as Operational, Technology, Finance and HR to support problem solving and decision making
• Experience of delivering change within a banking operations team driving measurable business outcomes
• The drive to understand emerging technical capabilities and how these might be leveraged by Operations
