Planning - Shaping Tomorrow's Communities Today
Join our new small Neighbourhood Planning Team as a Senior Neighbourhood Planning Officer reporting directly to the Neighbourhood Planning Manager.
This is an exciting opportunity for enthusiastic and creative professionals to help more communities plan for the places they live and work. You will contribute to the ongoing development and review of neighbourhood plans, helping to shape the sustainable growth of this economically vibrant and environmentally sensitive area.
Wiltshire Council is one of the largest and most prosperous unitary authorities in the country. With its rural character, Wiltshire has a high number of parishes and more Neighbourhood Development Plans (NDPs) in progress or completed than many other areas, each with its unique planning challenges.
Our neighbourhood plans are evolving rapidly, focusing on areas like design and delivering affordable housing. The Local Plan review is a key corporate priority for the Council and has reached an advanced stage. Once adopted, this new plan will support economic growth, provide a range of affordable and market homes and protect our important heritage and landscapes, offering a framework for neighbourhood plans.
Experience in neighbourhood planning and community engagement will be required. This is a role that requires a passion for community engagement and a willingness to understand a variety of planning issues so that local communities are equipped to meet the challenges that producing their Plans can bring.
If you are committed to high customer service, ready for a new challenge and are a dynamic and professional town planner with expertise in or a passion for neighbourhood and community planning – this is a role for you. As a Senior Neighbourhood Planning Officer, you will be working with stakeholders to enhance sustainable development and mentor junior colleagues to shape the next generation of planners. Ensuring compliance with statutory responsibilities you’ll play a pivotal role in shaping Wiltshire’s communities and future landscape.
