The role
As a Project Controller, you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary, where you will interpret and influence project performance across one of the submarine business units' key projects.

Day-to-day, you'll analyse and coordinate baseline management and performance management across elements of a project.

• Working across all project controls functions to ensure an integrated approach to scope / change management, project planning, cost management/earned value management and risk management
• Responsible for assuring project control inputs and outputs to governance forums
• Detailed performance management including provision of narratives and detailed bespoke analysis
• Ownership of any specific project control documentation
• Support the implementation of internal and external change to the baseline

This role is full time, 35 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements with 3 days in the office/onsite and 2 days working from home.

Essential experience of the Project Controller:

• Proven experience of working within at least one Project Controls function.
• A broad understanding of Project Controls, specifically cost control, earned value, finance, scheduling, change, risk and estimating.
• Previous experience applying data analysis to a project environment.
• Excellent communication skills with a proven ability to engage across various stakeholder groups.
• Evidence of personal effectiveness and ability to use problem solving skills to drive results.

Qualifications for the Project Controller:

• APM PMQ / or equivalent experience

About the role

The role:

Day-to-day:
You'll have project management focus with a level of responsibility for ensuring projects meet objectives to the correct quality, on time and on budget by applying structured processes and governance to achieve specific objectives.

• Defining and scoping of process improvement projects within the function, and work with specialists and leads to implement improvement plans.
• Analysing business, unit and department process performance, assemble and publish performance reports including providing a commentary on variations and achievements including diagnosing issues and identifying improvement opportunities.
• Leading project activities and day to day management of the projects. Applying a structured approach and process, ensuring the team use the correct tools and techniques to deliver project(s) through the lifecycle.

Essential experience of the Senior Business Improvement Specialist:

• Experience and understanding of project management (preferably PMQ) and the delivery of projects.
• Experience in project management with knowledge of related disciplines e.g. change management and lean working.
• Knowledge and understanding of organisational change models such as Kotter's, Lewin's, 7-S Model, nudge theory etc.
• Experience of analysis of data to provide useful information and insights including performance against plan.

The Opportunity

My client is a Top Tier Construction and Civil Engineering Contractor.

They are about to deliver a circa £45m Data centre plant replacement and refurbishment project in the Newquay area. The project has an anticipated life cycle of 3+ years.

They are seeking a Mechanical Project Manager with a strong background in HVAC and Mechanical services, ideally ONC/HNC plus qualifications.

Reporting to the Project Director, you will be one of two Mechanical Project Managers and will have Mechanical Supervisors and Sub-Contractors reporting into you.

To manage the Company's resources to achieve a successful outcome, Technically, Commercially, Safely and to the Client's Satisfaction on the project.

The company are prepared to offer subsistence / accommodation for those individuals residing more than 55 miles away from the project.

What you will be doing

• To manage all Engineering Services activities in line with the company IPCD.
• To manage all Engineering Services activities in line with the Project Process Document.
• To manage the resources on the project on a day-to-day basis and to report any staff issues as appropriate.
• Manage project commercial issues and cost reporting (WIP).
• Identifying the clients' requirements and ensure we deliver these requirements to the clients' satisfaction.
• Representing the company on any internal or external issues.
• Preparing detailed plans and procedures to administer the project and ensure the project team are familiar with and follow these guidelines.
• Managing all project reporting is provided upstream and downstream on a timely manner.
• Regularly audit the project to ensure compliance.
