Your new role
This project is a mixed development of low rise housing and flats in a premium residential location in Fife. As Project Manager, you will be fully responsible for its delivery. From ensuring procurement is running smoothly to managing your subcontractors onsite, this is a busy role for an experienced construction professional. You will have support from the wider team in the business, but you will be expected to get involved in all elements of the project.


What you'll need to succeed
Our client is seeking a well-rounded construction professional with a strong background in site management but with the capability to take on the more technical project management duties such as program management, commercial management and design management. As an expert in residential construction, you will have already delivered several large residential schemes already, and you will enjoy the day-to-day cut and thrust of a busy residential development. The ideal candidate will have an SMSTS and First Aid along with a technical qualification in construction.

-An exciting opportunity to work in the Central Government and Defence business unit of Mitie as a Project Manager in Scotland South (East and Central) area of the Scotland and Northern Ireland defence contract. The Project Manager is responsible for the development & delivery of projects in the most cost-effective manner, demonstrating ‘value for money' across Mitie's portfolio of clients. The person will identify & procure the services of specialist designers and contractors as required. The Project Manager is responsible for compliance with Mitie & client agreed methodology, governance, and gateway approvals. They will also take ownership of Health and Safety on their Projects ensuring they are effectively managed through consultation and liaison with relevant Stakeholders, acting as the Principal Designer as required. They will monitor & manage all change during a Projects life cycle, in accordance with the contract requirements.

The position will be based in Rosyth, Scotland East and Central area and may be tasked with delivering projects across the S&NI region if the demand dictates. The successful candidate will need to undertake national security vetting to BPSS level as a minimum prior to commencing and demonstrate the ability to achieve Security Clearance (SC level) as a pre-requisite for the role.



Main Duties

-Ensuring projects are delivered in compliance with the contract (NEC3 and 4) and corporate governance arrangements.



-Management of multiple projects across a diverse property portfolio.



-Managing individual project budgets across multiple locations and close liaison with the Commercial Team.



-Facilitating the appointment of Design Teams & Contractors to the projects and supporting the Tender process.



-Managing the delivery of each project to the agreed level of quality, programme, and budget.



-Managing both directly employed, agency resource, and Suppliers as required.



-Managing third party contributions to the project.



-Managing the communications with all stakeholders (internal & external).



-Managing risks to the projects successful outcome.



-Managing change.



-Reporting progress of projects at regular intervals.



-Providing aftercare services to the customer.



-Developing and managing positive relationships with clients and stakeholders.

What we are looking for
-Qualifications:



-Preferably degree qualified in a surveying or construction related discipline.



-Membership of a construction related institute e.g. RICS/CIOB/RIBA/CIBSE/MIET or APM Membership preferable.



-A relevant Health & Safety qualification (preferred but not essential).



Experience:



-They will have a proven track record of project development and delivery and demonstrable experience of pre-construction and construction phases delivery of multiple projects.



They must be:



-Fully conversant with all applicable legislation, regulations, and standards.



-Able to produce estimates of project programmes and cost targets, reviewed and revised as necessary throughout the project life cycle.



-Demonstrate knowledge and implementation of the NEC suite of contracts (Desirable).



-Have the ability to plan projects using at least 1 industry standard programming package.



-Able to capture stakeholder briefs, analysing and testing the documented statement of stakeholders and user requirements.



-Able to determine the overall duration of projects, including the identification of activities, interdependencies, and estimated durations.



-Competent in the use of Excel, Access, Word, PowerPoint, Microsoft Project and Maximo (desirable).

-A minimum of five years experience of working within a construction related industry (essential).



-Management experience of delivering multiple projects simultaneously (project values ranging from £15K to £3,000,000) and Understand profit & loss at a project level.



-Able to deliver the above at pace, working within multiple deadlines whilst delivering works accurately.

As a Senior Project Manager, you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary. You will be responsible for day-to-day management of the project and must be competent in managing key aspects of a project i.e., safety, scope, schedule, finance, risk, quality, and resources to achieve a project's agreed objectives. This scope of time, budget and requirement will often be set by our customer via a contract to deliver a specific capability or service.

• Managed projects of varying types and significant complexity: including varying products, services, across all phases of the lifecycle
• Experience in contracting methodologies (e.g. NEC).
• Cross functional awareness of lifecycle requirements for supporting functions

Qualifications for the Senior Project Manager:

• Ideally a bachelor's degree in engineering / project / construction management or a related field
• A postgraduate qualification is also desirable, as is membership in a professional body
