The aim of the Informatics Merseyside Programme and Project Management Team is to provide a customer orientated service to meet the business requirements of our Partner Organisation and Informatics Merseyside, in line with the local and national digital priorities and strategies. This service includes the full management of Programmes and Projects (that will cover acute, mental health, community and primary care) form initiation to closure, as well as providing advice and expertise in this area. All activities will utilise appropriate tools and methodologies such as Prince2 and MSP.
The post holder will be responsible for delivering projects and directing the work packages of project teams made up of staff from within the Informatics Merseyside and Partner organisations

Principal Responsibilities:
• Work independently and with the Senior Project Manager to provide project management expertise within the Informatics Merseyside, Partner and Non-Partner Organisations
• Have responsibility for a select number of projects, for the full lifecycle from initiation to project closure, making independent decisions at appropriate level.
• Work independently and with the Senior Project Manager and wider project team members on a number of projects.
• Ensure that all projects are managed in accordance with PRINCE2 and Informatics Merseyside Project Management standards.
• Ensure that each project includes a robust governance structure, and is supported by Informatics Merseyside, as well as Partner and Non-Partner organisations
• Monitor the progress of the project against the original business case and project initiation document, ensuring where necessary the project is able to adapt to changing requirements and that plans are adjusted accordingly so that the deliverables are on time, to specified quality and within budget.
• To analyse and evaluate potential conflicts which could compromise the successful completion of a project and decide how both Informatics Merseyside and Partner Organisation resources are to be used effectively. This includes being aware of key interdependencies with other Informatics Merseyside and Partner Organisation projects and factoring these into project plans.
• Be responsible for developing and tracking the progress of project plans, including resource planning, using Informatics Merseyside approved software.
• Provide regular reports to managers and to appropriate stakeholders, as defined within the project governance protocols.
• To identify and manage risks and issues associated with the project, including the development and implementation of contingency plans.
• Work collaboratively with other service areas within Informatics Merseyside and with PO staff to establish the appropriate project team to ensure successful project delivery.
• Work collaboratively with Business Change to ensure that appropriate business re-engineering activities take place, where appropriate. To support the successful delivery of the key outputs and benefits of the project, which support service improvement initiatives.
• Ensure that appropriate plans, documentation and procedures are in places when handing a project over to business as usual as part of project closure.
• Attend and chair meetings as necessary, to discuss project priorities, report progress and resolve issues.
• To create and deliver routine presentations, covering complex issues to groups of staff on topics associated with programmes/projects and to demonstrate systems to users when necessary.
• To assist other departmental managers and colleagues by providing expert advice or support when appropriate.
