SSEN Transmission Offshore Delivery Team are currently recruiting for two Senior Project Delivery Managers to deliver various Accelerated Strategic Transmission Investment (ASTI) projects before 2030 regulatory deadlines to directly facilitate Scotland's ambitions to meet Net-Zero.
The projects are primarily subsea HVDC (High-Voltage Direct Current) links and due to the scale, complex nature, and accelerated requirements, we are implementing an innovative delivery strategy. As the scale of our portfolio of projects is already large and is likely to grow in the coming years, this means there will likely be opportunities for career progression within the business.
The key duties and responsibilities of this role will be:
- Accountable to the Business for the safety, health and wellbeing of all personnel, and for environmental aspects of those Transmission projects activities being managed, including compliance with our framework behaviour charters and the CDM regulations.
- Planning, Monitoring, and Controlling projects or packages in line with Project Execution Plans to ensure that these are executed to cost, schedule and quality.
- Accountable for all commercial aspects of delivery including contract negotiation, contract awards, and NEC contract management, ensuring that any disputes are escalated as appropriate for resolution. Accountable to the business for the budget and delivery of the project / package within this. Packages will be in excess of £100m in value.
- Ensuring the use of recognised project management processes, reporting, methods, techniques and tools, in particular the application of our Large Capital Projects (LCP) Governance Framework Manual.
- Provide leadership and demonstrate our core values. Lead large teams, ensuring these are highly competent, well-motivated, and organised to deliver consistent excellence. Take line management and mentoring responsibility for your direct reports to ensure they perform to their required duties and are given all available opportunity to develop.
What do I need?
The requirements for these roles are as follows:
- A proven track record of leading and safely delivering projects or programmes of work to cost, schedule and quality in the Transmission, Construction, Energy, or other regulated industry / the wider utilities sector.
- An engineering, construction, or project management qualification / degree or equivalent experience is required.
- Thorough engineering or construction knowledge and understanding, including the associated environmental and safety legislation e.g. the CDM 2015 regulations.
- Commercially astute, with sound knowledge and experience of negotiating, administering, and managing NEC Contracts with a recognised NEC qualification / registration.
- Experience of the governance, reporting, and management requirements for project and/or programmes of work in a regulated environment, with prior delivery budget responsibilities, ideally in excess of £20m.
