A client within the Public Sector based in Greater Manchester is currently recruiting for a Managing Planning Officer to join their enforcement team as soon as possible. The client is offering a full time, temporary position on an ongoing basis with the ideal candidate having experience of working within a local authority within a planning enforcement environment.
The Role
Key purpose of the role is to give effect to the Council's planning policies and corporate priorities through the development management process.
Key responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
- assist the Head of Planning in the development and maintenance of effective links with other Council services, partner organisations and external stakeholders.
- apply policy broadly, innovatively and creatively and take the lead role in negotiations on major and complex planning applications and legal agreements with applicants.
- be responsible for the effective leadership and management of staff within the Planning Service, including the development of effective work, performance, development and support programmes for all staff, and the training of staff on new legislation.
The Candidate
To be considered for this role you will require a recognised qualification in Town Planning or equivalent, affording full exemption from the Final Examination of the RTPI.
The below skills would be essential for the role:
- experience of managing development management, enforcement, heritage and technical support teams to deliver high levels of performance and project delivery.
- experience of managing budgets or interpreting financial information.
- experience of working across Council services and partner organisations, and with local communities, as part of multi-disciplinary teams, to deliver major projects
The client is looking to move quickly with this role and as such are offering £40 - £45 per hour Umbrella LTD Inside IR35.
