About the Role

As a Production Team Leader, you will be responsible for a section of the assembly process for a system or vehicle, the Production Team Leader supports the Production Supervisor with the day-to-day management of their allocated area.

Job Summary

An engineering role within the Operations team, this position is responsible for producing all relevant documentation, routings, procedures, programs, tooling, and equipment to enable the successful manufacture and testing of various valves for the Oil & Gas, Nuclear and Marine sectors.

The role will also require supporting skilled operators with production of both prototypes and production products and liaising with design engineering to overcome production and testing issues. This role will focus on machining & automation of components; however, the successful candidate may also be required to assist with engineering support in other areas of the business where their skillset allows them to do so.

Responsibilities

Use CAM software to produce programs for a variety of multi-axis CNC machines, including 5-axis turn-mill, sliding head turn-mill and 5-axis milling.
Create set-up sheets for CNC machines to include all information about cutting tools, fixtures, and inspection equipment. Ensure additional key notes and photos are added to aid operators in setting up work to produce a first off right first time.
Support with the prove out of new programs across CNC machines ensuring that programs and set-up sheets are correct before handing the machine over to production.
Ensure updated CNC programs are returned in a timely manner, stored in the correct database location and CNC controls are kept clear of programs by the machine operators.
Support with, and make improvements to, a wide range of production techniques for machining of components, including manual machining, CNC machining, deburring, component finishing, cleaning, and metrology.
Assist production team with their day-to-day production requirements by providing them with technical assistance and problem-solving solutions.
Develop solutions for manufacturing components across the machine shop using standardised tooling and production methods wherever possible.
Design new cutting tools and work holding solutions where the needs of production cannot be met within a standard offering.
Identify defective products and processes that require a cross-functional team to review. Organise and lead RCAs to get to the root cause of an issue. Implement corrective actions to provide swift and permanent resolutions.
Identify waste within the manufacturing processes and lead continuous improvement activities and process improvements by organising meetings and workshops and actively contributing to the agreed action plan.
Review cost of products, and cost of poor quality by reviewing and responding to NCRs as required. Raise, and respond to, change requests to prevent reoccurrence of quality issues.
Maintain and apply lean principles to the machining environment.
Design jigs and fixtures using CAD (preferably 3D) for use in production, to ensure ease of use, consistency of manufacture and error proofing whilst following lean principles.

About the Role

As a key part of our Manufacturing Team, you will be involved in manufacturing and detailing composite panels up to 9m in length to the high standard of quality required, we are ideally looking for someone who has CNC Router experience. The role involves working in line with company procedures.

You will be responsible for the manufacturing of panels / components as detailed within Land Systems work instructions, engineering drawings, work requests and verbal instructions, internal and external processes and procedures. This will include certification of own work when applicable.

• Detailing panels using a CNC Router and Table Saw

• Aluminium Cutting

• Plywood cutting

• Foam cutting

• Panel Laminating

• Assembly activities

• Following written instructions or working to drawings

• Working as part of a team.

• Using online booking system for booking on and off job tickets.

• Working to budget and identifying any related issues

• Assisting line supervision in the supervision of Apprentices / Trainees when required.

This role will give you the chance to play a key role on ground-breaking and high-profile defence projects with values in the hundreds of millions. You'll be part of an industry-leading team, working with Marshall and other major defence stakeholders and Primes.

As our Detail Fitter, you will be manufacturing sheet metal fabricated components and sub-assemblies to engineering data and in accordance with internal and external OEM quality requirements. These will generally be low quantity production quantities, one off components including prototype manufacture.

Apply if you have experience with most of the following:

• Assembly experience essential, preferably in Aerospace
• Bench work sub-assemblies, working with small to medium sized precision components.
• Assembly of components using specialised fasteners, blind and solid rivets, hi-locks, anchor nuts etc
• Manual drilling, reaming & countersinking using handheld and air powered tools.
• Bonding/sealing using aerospace sealants and adhesives.
• Torque tightened bolts and nuts.
• Electrical Bonding and checks
• Assemble of prototype components in conjunction with the Manufacturing Engineers
• Use of jigs and fixture
• Fabrication of sheet metal components i.e., folding, hand forming, shrinking/stretching would be an advantage but training can be provided.
• Work to Marshall & OEM engineering data and in some instances 3D models
• Working to a schedule of work to meet on-time delivery and to the required quality requirements.
• Comply with all quality and HSE policies and procedures.

Reporting directly to the Production Manager of a section within the manufacturing environment, the Production Supervisor is responsible for the SQCDP (safety, quality, cost, delivery, people) of their allocated area of responsibility. Responsible for the management of a number of team leaders that will support the supervisor to achieve all key milestones and KPI's.

The Production Supervisor shall provide leadership to the team and support team leaders in coordinating workloads, providing support, monitoring issues, and ensuring quality standards are maintained whilst fostering a safe working culture.

• IOSH Managing safely certification is preferable however training could be provided.

Experience:

• Vehicle Body Building, mechanical fitting, or equivalent trade.
• Understand and competent in planning methods and skills.
• Experience of leading a team, including team leaders
