As a PRODUCTION CONTROLLER, GS-1152-9, you will establish plans and schedules for maintenance and repair, using multiple process production methods and procedures for vehicles and equipment such as combat vehicles, heavy-duty engineering and mobile equipment, tracked vehicles, towed and self-propelled artillery, communications and electronic equipment, guided missile systems, and small arms; ensure MTO&E or TDA reportable Line Item Numbers (LIN) are properly managed, reported and accounted; ensure that unit Class 9 accounts are funded, budgeted, and executed; designate and maintain current maintenance priorities; analyze repair methods and develop control procedures and policies; provide technical guidance and oversight to a lower-graded Production Controller.

• Operates one or more types of heavy gasoline or diesel powered engineering and construction equipment
• Operates motor grader on flat or rolling terrain where exact specifications are required in grading unpaved roads for surfacing with clay and gravel
• Drives various vehicles (e.g., utility truck or similar vehicle (primarily under 10,000 gross vehicle weight) to and from the work site
• Operates close to buildings, trees, drop-offs, rocks, or other obstructions on all types of terrain and therefore, requiring increased operating control relevant to the complexity of the equipment
• Operates crawler type and mobile truck cranes to move earth, dig ditches and for other operations where maneuverability if not a major problem and accuracy is not critical

Duties include, but are not limited to:

• Operates, regulates and maintains the Boiler Plant Unit of a Maintenance and Operations Section.
• Operates all equipment to ensure the boilers produce and control the amount of steam to meet the stations demands.
• Performs routine maintenance and repair to all boiler related equipment.
• Makes hourly checks of all operating equipment, recording pertinent details and makes independent operational decisions and judgments.
• Collects water samples from boiler(s), de-aerating feed tank, condensate return system and city water system.
• Analyzes and records water analysis for acidity, alkalinity, oxygen scavenger and the total dissolved solids and adds hazardous chemicals as required using the proper safety equipment and techniques.
• Assures understanding the observance of rules and regulations concerning safety, fire, conduct, OSHA standards, storage and handling of hazardous materials, and care of equipment.
• Uses all types of personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Takes all precautionary measures in an attempt to prevent serious accidents.

• You will assist in operating plants and equipment by opening/closing valves, starting/stopping pumps, hauling catalyst, changing catalyst, and backwashing filters, etc.
• You will assist in operating emergency generator equipment and motors.
• You will disassemble, clean and reassemble pumps and other equipment as directed.
• You will take periodic readings of various meters, gauges and amount of water treated.
• You will take samples for test run of alkalinity, pH, hardness, turbidity, and chlorine.

The major duties include but are not limited to:

• Assists in taking soil samples for analysis by others in making seasonal decisions regarding the application of chemicals and fertilizers;
• Sweeps, shovels and cleans drains;
• Cleans parking lots, streets, roadways, entrances and sidewalks;
• Digs and fills in holes, ditches, trenches with pick and shovel;
• Breaks up pavement with jack hammer and fills in and levels holes in damaged roads;
• Mows lawns and weed eating;
• Trims and prunes shrubs and trees;
• Grows and maintains flowers, shrubs and lawns;
• Applies herbicides and insecticides;
• Collects and disposes of outside debris and garbage;
• Removes snow from roadways, sidewalks, parking lots, steps and entrances with safe operation of shovels, snowplows, sweepers, sand spreads, trucks and other equipment and spreads ice melt by hand;
• Maintains all power equipment including adjusting blades on mowers for cutting height, preparing gas/oil mixtures, minor repairs on the equipment, changing tires and checking oil, daily routine maintenance to keep equipment in operational order;
• Drives motor vehicles including electric cars and pickup trucks ranging from half ton to 2.5 ton to haul equipment to and from work sites, pickup supplies, transport lawn maintenance equipment and haul linen/laundry;
• Operates tractor-type equipment for seasonal lawn mowing and snow removal;
• Operates rototillers, sod cutters, air compressors, brush chipper, fertilizer spreaders, etc.;
• Uses axe or chain saw and operates power posthole digger when necessary;
• Assists mechanics or tradesmen in their duties as required to maintain all equipment and move furniture and equipment;
• Performs various manual labor tasks for other departments and all sections of Facility Management Service and does other manual labor work as assigned;
• Performs maintenance of the exterior signage at the medical center; and,
• Performs other duties as assigned.

• Receives, examines and determines the condition and disposition of a wide variety of materials.
• Reviews disposal turn-in document accompanying material. Compares data against property assuring correct information and proper documentation (e.g. stock number, nomenclature, quantity, unit of issue, disposal authority code, DEMIL, condition code).
• Visually inspects usable property for obvious signs of condition and determines acceptability.
• Determines condition and reportability and special handling requirements (e.g., hazardous material, precious metals, security, DEMIL, Special focus items, etc.) and assigns appropriate classification instructions for warehousing.
• Verifies accuracy of demilitarization codes, takes action to challenge questionable items/codes, and maintains segregated storage of property requiring DEMIL.
• Ensures proper certification is attached to turn-in document when demilitarized by host or generating activity.
• Performs special and periodic inventory of property; re-palletizes/re-locates property as necessary.
• Operates forklifts and related materials handling equipment to move, load and unload, stack or un-stack palletized materials, supplies, and equipment.
