Assembly Technician (Fully Onsite - Monday - Friday)
3 month contract (January, February, March)

Description: The ideal candidate is responsible for assembling parts and components to build mechanical or electrical products. Reading and interpreting engineering drawings, assembling parts and components accurately, testing the assembled components and reporting any faults.

This role also involves testing, inspecting, troubleshooting, and repairing any issues that may arise. The successful Assembly Technician must be able to work safely and efficiently with hand tools, power tools, machinery, and other equipment. You must also possess excellent communication and problem-solving skills.

Working hours Monday-Thursday 8-5. Fridays 8-2.30
Duties and responsibilities
Assemble components in accordance with technical drawings.
Test completed assemblies for correct operation.
Perform basic maintenance on machinery and equipment.
Identify and replace defective assembly components.
Investigate and diagnose faults.
Ensure health and safety regulations are adhered to.

Rate: £40 per hour (PAYE) or £53 per hour (Umbrella)

What you'll be doing

Our Hatfield Sort is looking to recruit experienced Control Room Operator's. If you've previously worked within the logistics environment, or in a similar Control Room environment then this is the ideal role for you.

The role of Control Flow Room Operator carries out the day to day Control Room operations ensuring agreed service levels are maintained and the site runs in a cost-effective manner supporting the strategic direction of the wider business. They will work with the Transport and Sort Centre team on a daily basis.

You will be overseeing the effective execution of all planned inbound and outbound activity for the sort, liaising effectively with the Sort & Transport teams to hit targeted expectations.
You'll communicate any operational issues in a timely manner and work closely with the Managers and Engineers on site to ensure appropriate action is taken.

This role would suit a strong communicator who is computer literate looking to work in a fast paced warehouse environment. It isn't a necessity to have experience in this type of role but knowledge of a Transport/ Logistics environment would be beneficial.

Overview of the job

This is a non-operational instructional job in an establishment.

Summary

The job holder will be responsible for providing supervision, knowledge and skills to prisoners in a specialist workshop so they can improve their employment prospects on release with a view to reducing reoffending. The job holder will ensure that all services are provided to a high standard and that security and control is maintained at all times. The jobholder will be able to teach prisoners towards achieving nationally recognised qualifications and may be supported by external organisations such as local colleges.

This job description is not for use by jobholders in basic assembly / packing workshops, instead Production Instructor – Enterprises should be used. However, on an exceptional short term basis jobholders can supervise prisoners in more basic workshops.

This is a non-operational job in an establishment with no line management responsibilities.

Responsibilities, Activities and Duties

The job holder will be required to carry out the following responsibilities, activities and duties:

• May participate in the selection process of prisoners for the workshop/area of work.
• Induct prisoners to the workshop/area of work and train them in aspects such as health and safety, Control of Substance Hazardous to health (COSHH), machinery and tools usage.
• Provide support for prisoners where required; tailor learning and training requirements to individual needs.
• Set work schedules and manage targets/quality standards, maintaining delivery of contractual arrangements.
• Assess and evaluate skills of prisoners up to national qualification standards.
• Supervise and maintain discipline of prisoners within workshop/area of work, responsible for performance, motivation, discipline, appraisal and development of prisoners.
• Maintain regular communications via radio net in accordance with Local Security Strategy (LSS).
• Open and complete Assessment Care in Custody and Teamwork (ACCT) forms,
Violence Reduction Incident Reports (VRIR) and Security Information Reports (SIRs) when required and contribute to Incentive Earned Privileges (IEP) reports.
• Will conduct a metal detector scan or rub down search of prisoners attending and leaving their own workshops.
• Provide quality assurance against product specification.
• Log attendance and approve prisoner hours worked and wages including recording piece work where appropriate.
• Carry out fabric and tool checks of workshops and maintain security of areas, logging any tool/equipment faults. Undertake planned maintenance programme on machinery.
• Contribute to prisoner reports including parole and sentence planning.
• Complete regime monitoring information and update prisoner training records.
• Contribute to Health and Safety risk assessments relating to the workshop/work of area and specialist areas.
• Request materials and estimate usage in order to meet work targets.
• Initiate product development reviews to maintain workshop/area of work output levels, and to provide variety of work and experience for prisoners.
• Participate in self-audit and in achieving Service Delivery Indicators (SDIs).
• Complete administration activities to support the smooth running of the workshop.

What you'll be doing

Reporting into the Shift Manager, you'll be helping the Transport team to ensure delivery schedules are achieved. You'll be managing several key administrative and reporting tasks including:

*Monitoring planned schedules for Shaw's Transport team escalating any issues to ensure we operate within agreed service levels.
*Using our Transport Systems, you'll help with trailer allocation.
*Monitor the working time directive 48hr average and support us to review and report on driving infringements.
*Check on the arrival and departures of our vehicles to make sure we are setting out on time and meeting our SLA's - customer satisfaction is key!
*Administrative tasks such as keeping our drivers records up to date so for example their driving license expiry dates and training records.

What you need to show us

You'll already have gained experience in an Operator or Admin role and ideally have worked in a fast-paced office environment.

*Be confident to work with various IT Systems and especially working with data in Excel.
