Reporting to the Process Engineering Manager, the Sterilization Production Specialist - Night Shift role involves being responsible for a variety of complex operations and duties in the sterilization production area.

Hours: 6pm-6am (rotating)

What a typical day looks like:

• Monitors system controls and logs readings during operation to ensure sterilization system parameters meet specifications.

• Supports ALARA guidelines for proper radiation safety practices within risk exposure areas and maintains a strong safety mindset for all activities.
• Reconciles customer specifications to work orders to determine processing parameters.
• Reconciles and reviews batch record documents for batches that complete sterilization.
• Records data in processing records relative to customer specifications, equipment settings used, and identification and status of materials.

• Ensures secured spaces associated with sterilization system are vacated prior to and during operation.
• Supports equipment qualification tests.
• Understands statistical process control techniques. Maintains process control charts.
• Responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of designated areas.
• May be required to evaluate support non-conformance investigations, complaints, or to assist in the implementation of corrective actions.
• Maintains knowledge of relevant regulatory and ISO standards.
• Ensures the efficient flow of material through the sterilization system while maintaining radiation exposure safeguards.  
• Supports the safe operation, adjustment, maintenance, and calibration of electron beam sterilization systems.

Monitors and operates the switchboard including answering and directing incoming calls, placing outgoing calls, overhead paging and emergency response communication. Assists with the efficient operation of the department by providing support to the manager and guidance to the Telephone Operators. • Answers and directs all telephone calls and overhead paging inquiries for the efficient and timely operation of hospital communications. Triages and prioritizes calls as to their urgency, and accurately routes accordingly. (65%)
• Immediately responds to all alarms, security calls, and medical emergencies. Pages all persons designated to respond to emergencies. Immediately reports to the supervisor any problems with, or abuses of the alarm system. Logs emergency response information, as appropriate. May reprogram the computerized fire alarm system after it has been activated. (10%)
• Helps manager in resolving minor day-to-day issues/problems, e.g. staff coverage, interactions with customers; assists with rollout of new/revised procedures. (10%)
• Prepares work schedules for the department; prepares daily sheet for physician coverage and contact information. (10%)

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum

The Role

Operates industrial equipment, receives pick tickets, selects, and picks products for shipping at the Distribution Center in a safe, accurate, efficient, fast-paced, timely, and cost-effective manner. Operates industrial equipment to assist in loading or moving materials and products. Will be required to work off the ground while using stock pickers. Loads and unloads materials onto or from trailers, pallets, trays, racks, and shelves by hand or with industrial equipment. Reads pick tickets, sorts, and classifies them by product location so that the products can be accurately picked. Follows picking procedures and duties including all warehouse associate duties.

• Initials the pick ticket and uses proper Log in ID in Oracle to identify themselves as the individual who picked an order or moved inventory or loaded a truck trailer.
• Employee is regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to walk, stand, bend, pull, push, and occasionally squat, kneel, and climb.
• The employee must regularly lift, carry, and/or move up to 35 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
• As requested, puts items in stock, sorts and places items on racks and shelves in the packing area using necessary equipment according to a predetermined sequence such as size, type, style, and color or product code.
• Assembles customer orders, based on the pick tickets from items on stock using ladders, stock pickers or other necessary equipment and covey’s orders via necessary equipment to the packing station.
• Verifies the amount(s), size(s), style(s) and color(s) of products assembled to fill the customer order to ensure conformance to company standards.
• Records amounts of items picked and those items that are to be backordered.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

• Valid Driver’s License
• Safety training in the operation of a forklift, reach truck and stock picker.

What Manufacturing Engineering contributes to Cardinal Health

Engineering is responsible for performing research and analyses to develop design options for components, products, systems and processes.

Manufacturing Engineering is responsible for developing manufacturing processes, production floor layouts and associated tools. Reviews new designs for manufacturability. Designs process improvements to reduce product cost, process cycle time and improved product quality.

Job Summary

The Senior Engineer, Manufacturing oversees and project manages large engineering projects. This job serves as the technical lead for both internal and external engineering teams. The senior engineer is responsible for the management of projects from start to end from both a resource management and outcome perspective. This job leads teams as necessary but is not be a people manager.

Responsibilities

• Manages the coordination and overall integration of technical activities in engineering projects.
• Designs mechanical changes to manufacturing machines.
• Selects parts and materials for applicable design changes.
• Directs, reviews, or approves project design changes.
• Documents design changes.
• Evaluates mechanical processes and identifies areas for improvement.
• Implementing design changes in the applicable facilities/production lines.

Qualifications

• 2-4 years of experience
• BA, BS or equivalent experience in related field preferred

• Applies working knowledge in the application of concepts, principles and technical capabilities to perform varied tasks
• Works on projects of moderate scope and complexity
• Identifies possible solutions to a variety of technical problems and takes action to resolve
