About you and this role:

Do you prefer a manufacturing role where you are able to work as an independent contributor on an empowered team? In this role, you will work in an integrated process operating environment where every day is unique.  You will also be able to work in a team environment and be responsible for safely producing and ensuring high operational reliability to achieve plant and business goals. In this position you will operate assigned equipment and areas of the plant and perform operations-related activities following the plant work processes. You will utilize your chemical manufacturing knowledge and experience to run and troubleshoot the plant in a safe, reliable and efficient manner, working in a team environment where individuals often set priorities, and complete work activities with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities:

• Shadowing/supporting Operating Technicians
• Following Operating Discipline principles, procedures and practices to help ensure safe and efficient operation of assigned plant areas.
• Making rounds with an operator and assisting in taking readings and field-checking process equipment.
• Monitoring process conditions, equipment and control systems.
• Performing tasks under the direct supervision/direction of an experienced operator.
• Participating in troubleshooting unit upsets and abnormalities.
• Witnessing the work permit system, learn about Environmental, Health & Safety systems as well as emergency preparedness.
• Demonstrating Dow's global competencies showing: cooperative and active participation in operations activities, willingness and enthusiasm to learn about the facility, ability to apply self to effectively help and support operations.
• Working in a team environment where individuals often set priorities and complete work activities with little or no direction from a manager/supervisor, the PTEC Intern is responsible for:

Qualifications:

High School Diploma or GED AND 1 of the following is required:

• Enrolled in your last semester of a Process Technology (PTEC) Associates degree program and have at least a 2.7 cumulative GPA OR graduated in the last 2 years
• 4 or more years of relevant military experience.

• A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process

At the same time, opportunities will be provided for students to expand their knowledge outside the boundaries of their classroom experiences.  Typical roles our Mold Repair interns experience will include Mold Repair Technicians and Department Mold Technicians with exposure to mold maintenance and repair, and setting/pulling molds in production.  Ensures compliance with BD quality systems, policies, procedures, and best practices, and all local, state, federal and BD safety regulations, policies, and procedures.  Regular, punctual attendance is an essential job function.  Ability to read, write and converse in English.  Willing and able to uphold BD Values.

Duties/Responsibilities:     

• Provide support in a fast paced, high volume manufacturing environment

• Troubleshooting/Root Cause analysis

• Work with a mentor on assignments which are commensurate with academic background

Essential Job Accountabilities

• Inspects and determines maintenance needed for all incoming equipment. Performs on-site maintenance as set by regional requirements.                     

• Performs all refueling as needed and maintains fuel storage as dictated by regional requirements.

• Communicates daily with manager and maintains records and invoices on parts and supplies to assist in the proper prioritization and billing of repairs.

• Perform inspections on all equipment prior to issuance to ensure tools are in good operating order before delivery/ will call to internal or external customer.

• Develop and maintain good relationships with Granite suppliers/ maintenance providers to ensure timely and accurate receipt of parts/ equipment.

• Facilitate a safety first attitude in all work to ensure Company safety standards are met.

• Coordinate mechanical support for the field when necessary to mitigate potential down time of GCS equipment.

• Support processing of all DMV paperwork for GCS equipment to ensure proper documentation is in place for all GCS inventory.

• Inspect and maintain all yard-specific equipment (i.e. forklift) to ensure safe working order.

• Support GCS customer service functions as needed.

Education

• High School Diploma.  

Work Experience

• 3+ years progressive experience in construction/ equipment rental environment preferred 

Knowledge, skills, and abilities

• General understanding of parts, inventory, ordering, and construction.

• Must be mechanically inclined.

• Must be detail oriented.

• Must be customer-service oriented.

• MS Office proficiency preferred.

• Experience with point of sale/ rental management software preferred.
