PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Signing Bonus: New employees are eligible for a $5,000 bonus; with $2,500 paid on the first payroll, and $2,500 paid upon completion of six (6) month introductory period from hire date.
Salary to commensurate with experience.
Hiring range for this position is $20.09-$25.12/Hourly
Salary range for this position is $20.09-$31.41/Hourly

OVERVIEW OF POSITION / DEPARTMENT
This position is with the Fleet Services Division and performs routine preventive maintenance, diagnostic and repair work on vehicles and equipment.
PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Perform preventative maintenance on City automotive vehicle fleet; performs diagnostic procedures on hydraulic, electronic and mechanical systems
Perform routine scheduled maintenance on automotive operating systems
Prepare basic reports related to the maintenance function
May be required to transport vehicles or service calls
Store and handle hazardous materials in accordance with EPA and City standards
Perform a variety of maintenance tasks including washing and steam cleaning equipment
Maintain fluid levels in a diverse fleet vehicles and equipment
Repair, replace, change and rotate tires
Maintain and repair shop related equipment
Perform additional duties as assigned

Physical Demands:
Moderate to heavy physical work requiring ability to lift a maximum of 50 pounds without assistance or 100 pounds with assistance
Frequent lifting and carrying of objects weighing up to 50 pounds
Regular walking and standing
Frequent performance of activities requiring a full range of body movement including bending, stooping, pushing, pulling, climbing and crawling
Considerable eye/hand/foot coordination to operate tools and automotive equipment as well as for driving equipment and vehicles
Vision to read manuals, gauges and meters
Speech and hearing to receive and provide technical information and instructions
Work Environment:
Works in an automotive shop/yard with frequent time spent outdoors in all types of weather conditions
Regular exposure to dust, noise and fumes related to automotive repair
Equipment Used:
Standard business and professional equipment and tools including computers with applicable diagnostic and records management applications
Drives vehicles and equipment in and out of shop; uses tools and equipment related to heavy equipment and vehicle repair
This position requires the incumbent to supply their own tools
This position may require the incumbent to occasionally use personal equipment (e.g. vehicle, cell phone, etc.) in the course of their employment
