To ensure we can deliver our ambitious Highways Transformation we are looking to grow our team of highway engineering professionals and develop talent for the future.
Our Community Highways team ensure local concerns are prioritised and addressed alongside strategic programmes of highway works - acting as highway ambassadors within communities and as advocates for local communities within the wider service.
There are two positions available and you can be based at any of the four depots which include Leek, Gailey, Stone or Lichfield.

Main ResponsibilitiesYou will:
- provide technical expertise within the Community Highways team to support delivery of local highway priority schemes. These schemes may range from small scale signing upgrades to the implementation of Traffic Regulation Orders or the commissioning of larger road safety improvements.
- undertake investigations and develop scheme solutions,
- prepare reports and technical drawings,
- provide expert advice/guidance on traffic regulations
The Ideal CandidateYou will have:
-
experience in the design of traffic / road safety improvements, or equivalent qualifications

knowledge of highway statutory procedures with a detailed knowledge of the Traffic Signs Regulations & General Directions,

excellent written, verbal and digital communication skills,
- an ability to use AutoCAD/GIS software
