Utilizes embedded diagnostics in equipment and a wide variety of original equipment manufacturer system analyzers in order to determine the exact nature or extent of repair. Determines what adjustments may be necessary to complete work orders, and whether any additional repairs other than those specified or indicated on the work order are necessary.

Removes and disassembles engines and major assemblies, sub-assemblies, components, and fuel, hydraulic, and oil pressure systems. Makes the appropriate repairs, overhaul, or modifications in accordance with the proper repair specifications and procedures. Reassembles engines and other systems, and adjusts, tests, and reinstalls in vehicles and equipment as necessary. Makes adjustments and repairs to electrical and suspension systems. May install pistons, sleeves, rings, bearings, rods, crankshafts, timing gears, and rocker arms. May be required to perform fuel injection equipment repair, overhaul, rebuild, and calibration duties utilizing a variety of complex test and calibration equipment.

Independently performs repairs and maintenance functions in remote locations that can be accomplished by removing, cleaning, reinstalling, or replacing defective parts of components and systems such as injectors, leaking wheel cylinders, corroded mufflers, fuel tanks, brake cylinders and worn brake shoes, voltage regulators, generators, injector pumps, and fuel pumps. Provides technical guidance and specialized team leadership to lower grade employees within the team. Assists lower grade mechanics in performing major repair work.

Conducts readiness and repair inspections on vehicles and associated equipment supported by the activity. Performs operational inspections and ensures vehicles and equipment are properly serviced, including brake adjustments, replacing hydraulic fluids, greasing, cleaning, etc., and performs other preventive maintenance operations as required. Inspects supported equipment prior to use during Inactive Duty Training (IDT) and Annual Training (AT), to ensure that it is functioning properly. May inspect in-process repair work of lower graded repairer to ensure equipment is being repaired in accordance with pertinent requirements. May serve as a commodity inspector during Command Maintenance Management evaluations (COMET) or as a member of a Maintenance Assistance Instruction Team (MAIT). Instructs operator/crew in the maintenance of equipment and provides technical advice and assistance to supported units when requested.

May maintain and repair electronics communication equipment by removing and replacing components and elements. Equipment includes such items as radios, field telephones, amplifiers, switchboards, recorders, intercoms.

Assists in the maintenance of production reports and records and makes recommendations to the supervisor. Plans, organizes, and performs technical analyses as required or assigned. Makes recommendations to the supervisor as to adjustments necessary to effectively, efficiently and economically accomplish the work and maximize production.

We seek an experienced Electrical Technician based at our water production sites in East Thames Valley (Newbury or Reading).
The overall responsibility of this role is to ensure that all equipment at our water production sites is running safely and efficiently using proactive and reactive maintenance methods. You will inspect, maintain, fault diagnose, test, install, modify or repair electrical equipment.

Follow robust planned maintenance as well as getting involved in minor installation projects, electrical fault finding and emergency breakdown repairs to ensure our plant operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
Investigate plant failures and carry out repairs as quickly and efficiently as possible to avoid interruptions to the process. As well as provide technical advice, referring to up-to-date technical knowledge, and provide training or support for technical trainees if required.

- Base Location – either at Speen WTW in Newbury (RG14 1RT) or Fobney WTW Reading. (RG2 0SF)
- 38 hours per week Monday-Friday.07:30 -15:30 plus the inclusion onto a standby rota for which you will receive additional payment.

What you’ll be doing as the Electrical Technician

- Investigate plant failures and carry out repairs as quickly and efficiently as possible to avoid interruptions to the process.
- This may involve investigating and diagnosing complex faults and carrying out repairs during incidents.
- You will be expected to provide technical advice, referring to up-to-date technical knowledge, and provide training or support for technical trainees if required.

What you should bring to the role

- 18th Edition electrical City and Guilds certification is crucial.

- NVQ or City & Guilds level 3 in mechanical engineering would also be ideal but not essential.
- Experience in inspecting, maintaining, fault diagnosis, testing, installation, modifying or repairing Electrical plant equipment.
- Ideally experience maintaining large pumps, actuated valves, electronic control systems such as VSD and 3-phase electrical switchgear is essential.
- Knowledge and awareness of health and safety issues relevant to the industry would benefit this role.
- The work will require physical fitness.
- You will need the ability to work in confined spaces and will require the completion of appropriate training for this.
- A full UK driving licence is essential.

Serves at the FSS principle screening authority for the Defense Reutilization Management Office (DRMO). Directs, coordinates, and controls the turn in of all NAF and APF property and equipment.
4. Vehicle Control Duties: Provides supply support and account management for the FSS vehicle fleet, consisting of widely varying vehicles obtained from APFs, NAFs, DRMO and confiscated vehicle sources. Acts as liaison between the FSS and the base transportation activity for all unit government motor vehicle matter, Controls unit vehicles and obtains transportation services required to support unit mission requirements. Assigns the vehicles to their respective authorized functions. Defends vehicle
requirements, justifies request for additional vehicles; complies with the base vehicle rotation and priority recall plans; notifies the Vehicle Operations Officer when assigned vehicles are no longer required. Provides justifications data to support unit minimum essential vehicle levels (MEL). Ensures only qualified and properly licensed personnel operate assigned motor vehicles. Take appropriate action to prevent misuse, abuse, and damage to Air Force motor vehicles. Ensures low-use vehicles are rotated with high-use vehicles.
