Duties include but may not be limited to:

• Processes samples of blood, tissue, organ, or other body fluids or substances according to standard operating procedures.
• Ensures samples are processed according to the correct on-going study protocols to ensure the quality of the specimen.
• Maintains responsibility for the accuracy of the results and for the adequacy of the results in furthering the professional clinical or research objectives.
• Performs data analysis including arithmetic calculations, algebra, graphing of data using interactive computer programs.
• Prepares reports, presentations, figures etc. associated with the studies.
• Programs equipment used for blood processing, DNA extraction and DNA normalization.
• Maintains and controls laboratory records.
• Develops and maintains detailed records of all experimental or other protocols, and ensures results are neatly kept and catalogued in appropriate format.
• Maintains laboratory equipment and supplies used, proper records of research data, and assists the supervisor in performing data analysis.
• Calibrates and maintains laboratory instrumentations at timely intervals so as to minimize breakdown and delay of procedures.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

• Serves as Veterinary Medical Unit (VMU) Supervisor, overseeing the operations of all Veterans Affairs (VA) Boston animal facilities (Jamaica Plain and West Roxbury).

• There are approximately fifty (50) active protocols, and thirty (30) Principal Investigators utilize the Veterinary Medical Unit, using different species of animals for biomedical research studies in many scientific fields.
• Controls the animal population level by setting limitations, approving new animal purchases, and working with investigators to ensure population levels are consistent with the facility's ability to provide proper care.
• Ensures the proper transfer and transport of animals per regulations and guidelines.
• Maintains the barriers necessary for the prevention of cross contamination and the restrictions, separations, and precautions necessary to maintain a virus antibody-free facility.
• May order disposal, quarantine, or other measures as necessary, and may restrict the purchase of animals from sources found to be unreliable regarding the condition of animals.

About the RoleWorking in a team on a rota basis (06:30-15:00 and 14:30-22:30 rotating weekly), our Facilities Officers open and close the college buildings, assist with managing student behaviour, supervise and delegate cleaning duties to a team of cleaning staff, assist with any caretaker/porter services and any minor maintenance related issues and ensure the college is a safe and secure environment for learners, staff and other users.
Facilities Officers are trained to become part of the College’s First Aid rota when on duty, for which there is an additional payment of £500 per annum (paid monthly) once training is completed.
Facilities Officers are also required to be on the On-Call escalation rota for the buildings on a rotational basis (currently 1 week in 6) and work a Saturday shift with paid breaks (currently 1 week in 6).
About the PersonWe require a flexible person who can work independently, and as part of a team, to provide and maintain the security, cleanliness, and efficient running of the college buildings. Previous experience in a similar role is not required, however, the successful candidate will need to be hardworking and dedicated to learning from on-the-job-training. • Strategic planning for upgrade and enhancement of existing facilities, incorporating both short-term and long-term timelines, improving coordination of these efforts with other divisions within ODFM and other departments

• Assessment and approval of work requests to ensure compliance with established standards and procedures           

• Continuous assessment to improve the safety provisions in communal spaces areas

• Engage in environmental sustainability initiatives
   

Contract Management                                                                                            

• Oversee the development of term contracts for essential services including building services maintenance, cleaning services, waste disposal, landscaping, pest control, painting and other projects

• Organise regular building and façade inspections

• Manage the tender process for term and adhoc projects        

• Evaluate tender reports and make recommendations for executive approval

Financial Stewardship                                                                                                                       

• Lead the preparation and submission of annual budget proposals, ensuring alignment with financial guidelines and objectives.

• Monitor and control the budget throughout the financial year to ensure that department operations stay within allocated budget.

General Administration                                                                                                             

• Continually review and innovate work processes, implementing new strategies where beneficial

• Participate as a key member of steering and working committees for major university-wide projects or initiatives.

• Review and assessment of Lease Agreements for leases of spaces within and outside of NTU, in coordination with other relevant departments

Requirements

• Degree in Civil Engineering, Building/Estate/Facilities Management or related fields

• Registered professional in relevant field would be an advantage

• At least 20 years’ experience in estate and facility management, consultancy, project management or related filed within the estate, building or construction industry, managing properties of at least 0.5 million square meters GFA and overseeing an annual maintenance budget of $5 million

• Strong in technical knowledge, facilities management, contract negotiation and management, and financial and budgeting skills

• Well-rounded understanding and appreciation of various related disciplines within the industry

• Experience in environmental sustainability is preferred

• Adept in IT applications.

• Demonstrated strength in managing teams, delivering impactful presentations, and excelling in communication
