The post holder is expected to have the relevant accreditations to meet the criteria for a Pharmacy Technician, band 5. You will be working as part of the ward-based pharmacy team to optimise safe and effective use of medicine. The post holder will also contribute to audit and review of safe medicines practice in clinical areas. This role includes supervision of junior members of staff and trainees on a planned basis.

The post holder will act as a validated dispenser for the manufacture of a range of sterile products, support the manufacture of radiopharmaceutical products and assist in the requirements of providing a non-sterile manufacturing service. The post holder will also provide direct supervision of a team of technicians and pharmacy assistants and support the requirements of the department Quality Management systems.

Use the Pharmacy Wellsky stock control computer system. To assist with stock control including the investigation of any discrepancies. As determined by the Lead Technicians supervise occasional visitors to the department, ensuring security, safety, and confidentiality is always maintained during the visit. To co-ordinate and prioritise workflow relating to cancer chemotherapy, parenteral nutrition, CIVAS, other non-cytotoxic products, non-sterile manufacturing, and radiolabelled kits under direction of senior technicians. This will include worksheet generation, calculations, raw material assembly and labelling. To prepare cancer chemotherapy for intrathecal use according to Department of Health guidelines, Local Trust policy and departmental procedures. To complete the initial check of cytotoxic, non-cytotoxic, CIVAS and parenteral nutrition batches prior to compounding.
