There are new exciting changes being made to access and referrals into Secondary Care mental health services.

Are you an experienced mental health clinician with a desire to provide the highest quality care to our service users? Do you want to challenge yourself in a fast paced supportive environment where you can continue to grow and develop your skills? If so then we are currently looking for motivated and enthusiastic Band 6 Nurses/Social Workers/ to join our team based in Warwick.

Our Crisis resolution and Home Treatment (CRHT) form part of the community provision for secondary mental health care in Coventry and Warwickshire. We welcome applications from reliable individuals, who are passionate and committed to make a positive difference to our service users.

As the front door to secondary care mental health, the successful candidate will identify any needs using a holistic triaging tool and will refer on to the most appropriate service to meet the needs of the service user. This may include conducting and urgent assessment where urgent needs are identified.

The Home Treatment Team provide care and treatment to services users using the least restrictive principles to ensure recovery is achieved at home in order to avoid hospital admissions. This includes intensive home treatment, gatekeeping admissions to hospital and also facilitating early discharge from hospital inpatient units.

As the successful candidate you must have a professional qualification i.e., nursing, occupational therapist or social worker, with substantial post registration experience as a qualified professional of which you will have recent experience working with clients within a secondary care mental health setting.

You will be responsible for the assessment, risk assessment/s and formulation of crisis care plan/s and discharge preparation for our service users.

The team/s operate a 24 hour Rota system and you will be expected to work various shift patterns.

The North Warwickshire Community Mental Health Team is a newly formed team comprising of both The Recovery Team and The Community Mental Health & Wellbeing Team.

Our Team covers the locality of North Warwickshire & Rugby. We have two bases, one in Nuneaton and the other in Rugby and although you would be based in a particular location for expenses purposes, you are part of one large team, and you will get the opportunity to work across both localities with different colleagues.

This would be an ideal opportunity for a clinician who would be interested in developing their skills of managing a caseload and providing clinical interventions skills in an established and forward-thinking team in North Warwickshire.

Working within an established team, you’ll be managing a caseload of clients who have complex mental health problems both with a psychotic illness and non-psychosis presentations and delivering a range of interventions and treatment across the whole patient group. As a successful candidate you will be given time and opportunity to build your skills and confidence to eventually allow you to undertake the role of management of a caseload. Those patients with a psychotic presentation may be managed through shared care within the team. This allows the sharing of responsibility, skills and knowledge which offers the opportunity for staff to develop their role whilst being supported by colleagues.

You will be working as part of a multi-disciplinary team, using evidence-based approaches and time limited interventions. You’ll be communicating with a wide variety of clients; professionals; partners and agencies.

The nature of the team means that you bring your knowledge, experience, enthusiasm and empathy and are exposed to the knowledge and skills of other colleagues within the team, which promotes growth and development within your own practice at an accelerated rate. We are a team that recognises the work we do can be difficult at times and we have a strong supportive approach- both in professional matters

An interest in working with people with complex and significant mental health problems is vital and we see this as an ideal opportunity to develop more specialist skills. It’s important you have strong communication skills and you can work on your own initiative as well as collaboratively with colleagues. A willingness and enthusiasm to learn new skills and develop your practice is vital. There are tight deadlines, and you will be often under pressure but you will be supported throughout your time with the team and we invest time and energy in developing you as a clinician. You will have to make difficult decisions but having a supportive and experienced team and management alongside you, helps with that process.
