As the successful candidate you must have a professional qualification i.e., nursing, occupational therapist or social worker, with substantial post registration experience as a qualified professional of which you will have recent experience working with clients within a secondary care mental health setting. You will be responsible for the assessment, risk assessment/s and formulation of crisis care plan/s and discharge preparation for our service users. The team/s operate a 24 hour Rota system and you will be expected to work various shift patterns.

To collect prescriptions from wards and deliver medication, including Controlled Drugs, according to pre-determined schedule and as required. To ensure all medicines are delivered at the end of the day. To collect pharmacy boxes from wards and departments, return same to pharmacy and prepare ready for other staff in accordance with departmental standards. To assist other staff with receipt of goods, and sign for them,(other than controlled drugs which must be presented to a pharmacist or registered technician to check and sign) and correctly locate them within stores, in accordance with departmental standards. To assemble bulk fluids from picking lists and distribute them to the designated locations (wards/departments) around the hospital. To assist other staff with re-distribution of stocks within pharmacy. To remove and dispose of departmental refuse as required, in accordance with Trust standards. To prepare products in a form suitable for distribution to wards and departments, in accordance with departmental procedures. To maintain the stores and ward stock distribution area in a clean and tidy condition, ensuring that gangways and fire escapes are not blocked so that there are no avoidable Health and Safety risks to anyone. To attend departmental meetings as and when required. To undertake such other reasonable duties as may be necessary to ensure the smooth running of the pharmacy service as determined by the senior staff. To dispose of packaging to an appropriate place as required by pharmacy and Trusts waste management policies. To co-operate with other members of pharmacy staff as necessary, to facilitate the smooth running of the department. To participate in rotational work schedules, including Saturday and Sunday working. Complete any training in a timely manner

Clinical Responsibilities The appointee will be expected to: Take his/her share of the consultant clinical responsibilities within the department, develop the medical retina and Glaucoma / paediatric service. The precise allocation of session time will be agreed with consultant colleagues, but it is envisaged that there will be 2 operating theatre sessions per week plus 5 clinics (including a one stop cataract pre-assessment clinic). Provide cover for colleagues during leave and other authorised absences. Medical members of staff are expected to contribute to the general management of the hospital and to develop valued links with the community. They are also expected to work as members of the team with Resource Management accountability to the Clinical Director.

X 2 All cleaning personnel must be familiar with setting and cancelling the security alarm system and what to do in case of fault. X 3 On departing the building the alarm must be correctly set and the exit door correctly closed. X 4 On completion of cleaning sessions all lights should be switched off. Take ongoing responsibility for patients under his/her care. Provide a consultation service and advisory service to other clinical colleagues in other specialties within the Trust and Primary Care. Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with medical colleagues in other specialties and participate in regular clinical meetings and other post graduate activities. Develop and maintain good communications with General practitioners and appropriate external agencies. Participate and encourage two way communications encompassing briefing systems as appropriate. Comply with all relevant Trust Policies and Procedures. Ensure that all trust wide standards are maintained to improve the quality of total care to all who come in contact with services provided by GEH. Ensure compliance with all appropriate legal and statutory requirements, including Health and Safety, Standing financial Instructions and Incident Reporting. Share responsibility for data protection arising out of the use of computers Demonstrate a firm involvement in Clinical Governance, Risk Management and Clinical Audit this will include the development and maintenance of appropriate systems and practices to ensure continued safe clinical practice. Take responsibility for the professional supervision and development of trainee doctors and other staff within the specialty. This will include the appraisal of doctors in training, and the Certificates of Satisfaction in respect of foundation year doctors. Ensure own practice is up-to-date which will include taking responsibility for own Continuous Professional Development and participating in the Trusts Performance and Annual Review system. Participate in the continuing professional development scheme of an appropriate medical college and the Trust & University Joint Appraisal scheme. The Trust supports the requirements for Continuing Medical Education as laid down by the Royal College of Physicians and surgeons and is committed to providing time and financial support for these activities. To take part in the general consultant on call rota on a 1:7 moving to 1:8 basis in the near future. Job Planning PA allowance has been scheduled into support this.
