Our client based in Coalville, LE67 are keen to recruit Wood machinists to join their team. This is an excellent opportunity for candidates to have a full time contract after 12 weeks!

Our client offers:

• Days of work: Monday to Friday
• Hours of work : 07:00 - 15:00
• Salary: £12.40ph
• Overtime: £18.60 after 37.5 hours and Saturdays and £24.80 on Sundays
• Permanent position after 12 weeks

LEC01

• You will construct and repair supply, shipping, and storage containers of various sizes.
• You will cut boards or sheets of wood into specific lengths.
• You will use power tools and machines such as nailing machines, banding and strapping devices, power saws, drills, drill presses, preset table and radial straws.
• You will pack and repack items using accepted packing containers, materials, devices, methods and techniques.
• You will custom pack various items that cannot be fitted into containers of standard size.

• Plans, constructs, and repairs a variety of supply, shipping, and storage containers and similar items.
• Based on complex construction plans and rough sketches, builds and constructs odd shaped items used for shipping, storage, supply, bracing, etc.
• Selects containers, protective devices, cushioning materials, methods, and techniques needed for packing a variety of tools, parts, equipment, and other items.
• Custom packs various items that cannot be made to fit into containers of standard size.
• Operates a variety of power tools.

• Plans, constructs, and repairs a variety of supply, shipping, and storage containers and similar items.
• Selects the proper type and grade of wood/wood substitute from a few grades of soft pine, fir, plywood, and Masonite.
• Selects containers, protective devices, cushioning materials, methods, and techniques needed for packing a variety of tools, parts, equipment, and other items.
• Custom packs various items that cannot be made to fit into containers of standard size.
• Applies highly detailed knowledge of cleaning, drying, and preservation methods to material.
• Operates a variety of power tools and material handling equipment.

• Makes and repairs wooden supply, storage, and shipping containers such as boxes, crates, etc., which typically require complete custom building involving complex construction plans and work procedures.
• Secures freight such as heavy, unbalanced machinery, vehicles, and equipment; industrial plant equipment; artillery; odd-shaped containers; large explosive bombs, rockets, and missiles; nuclear materials (i.e., reactor materials); sensitive electronic equipment; large communication shelters; and similar cargo in a variety of containers and inside or upon conveyances such as ships, aircraft, vans, gondola cars, box cars, and barges.
• Performs a wide variety of standard and specialized preservation and/or packing work. Uses various protective cushioning and bracing techniques for custom packing of a variety of items including hazardous materials to ensure safe and damage free movement.
• Uses and maintains various types of hand and/or power tools, such as nail and staple guns; hand, radial, and circular saws; hammers, joiners, and squares; etc
• Performs duties in a safe manner, utilizing safety practices and procedures, and complying with established safety rules and regulations.

Yard Operative:

Must have experience working outdoors in a yard
It would be beneficial to have FLT experience, ideally on a Side Loader
Rotating shifts: Monday - Friday 6am-2pm / 2pm-10pm
£27,500 per annum

Mill Labourer:

Must have experience working in a wood mill
Rotating shifts: Monday - Friday 6am-2pm / 2pm-10pm
£26,000 per annum

The role

This role is based in the paper stores area which is where the packaging for the biscuit products is stored. You will be booking in materials and scanning out to the dispatch warehouse. Use of PPT and FLT in the area also.

Key accountabilities

• Ensure compliance of Food Safety Standards
• Adhere to basic PPE and Plant Safety Standards
• Participate in training and development of self and team
• Maintenance of hygiene and ‘clean as you go’ procedures
• Booking in materials and scanning onto systems
• Scanning packaging materials out to the warehouse
• To actively support a safety culture within Dispatch warehouse teams, including safe use of FLT /PPT Truck equipment
• To communicate positively with all colleagues during each shift & handover period

Skills & experience

• Teamwork - Working together as part of a team to ensure we make great biscuits
• Ability to work on own initiative “Making the right decisions based on what is best for FBC”
• Experience of machine operation in a manufacturing environment an advantage
• Problem Solving – ability to react to fault finding skills and have the ability to work with the minimum amount of supervision
• Good numeric skills
• A flexible and self-motivated person
• Good communication skills
• Excellent time keeping and attendance record
• Awareness of health and safety and food safety / hygiene requirements is desirable
• Experience within the food manufacturing environment desirable
• Trained in operating Forklift counterbalance, reach and PPT equipment

• Uses and maintains various types of hand and/or power tools, such as nail and staple guns; hand, radial, and circular saws; hammers, joiners, squares, operates electric, LPG, or diesel powered fork lifts capable of lifting loads weighing less than 10,000 pounds as high as 168 inches to facilitate loading and unloading duties.
• Performs duties in a safe manner, utilizing safety practices and procedures, and complying with established safety rules and regulations. Plans and carries out shipping arrangements and conducts pre-and post-audits and maintains shipping documentation.
