The ideal candidate will have excellent verbal and written communication skills and be competent in the use of IT systems. You will also be willing to work hard in a team, as well as confident to carry out individual duties. You will be interacting with a high number of patients each day, playing a vital part in making their stay as comfortable as possible and raising spirits with a friendly and compassionate service.

Collection of patients pre operatively.
Transporting of patients between departments by means of bed, wheelchair or trolley, ensuring that the transportation is carried out in a safe and courteous manner.
To assist with the positioning, lifting and handling of patients, within the peri operative environment, under the direction of the theatre staff. To assist with the positioning of equipment, within the peri operative environment, under the direction of the theatre staff.
Transport equipment between departments as per clinical requirement. Assist in the care and transport of specimens, to and from the laboratoryfollowing the strict guidelines laid down by the Trust.
Empty HSDU transport trolley of sterile instrument packs and supplementries into ‘clean’ storage area.
To collect and return blood and blood products from the blood bank ( training is provided.)
To stock and clean patient trolleys daily within the peri operative environment.
Medical gas cylinders to be checked and changed at back and front of theatres daily and prepared for use as per guidelines.
To aid in the removal of clinical waste. Removal of nuclear waste appropriately, within a specified time frame.
Maintaining storage area for intravenous fluids. Collect and prepare, bed store beds for patient use. Prepare pressure relieving mattresses as required.

We are also proud to host the Defence Medical Group South East at Frimley Park with military surgical, medical, and nursing personnel working alongside the hospital's NHS staff providing care to patients in all specialties.
On a typical day/night as a Porter you can expect to transport patients around the site, , collect and deliver essential supplies and samples, respond to any emergency situations that may arise.
Due to the nature of the role, you will be required to adhere to departmental standards and health and safety regulations. You will also act at all times in a manner that upholds the Trust’s values, working as part of a team to ensure efficiency and excellent customer care.
As part of the recruitment process you will complete a Maths and English assessment, in order to progress to interview you will need to pass this test.
As a full-time member of staff you will work 37.5 hours a week on a rota shift pattern . . Shift patterns are: 07:30 – 19:30, one Saturday or Sunday in a month.
