This post is for a Consultant Physician in General (Internal) Medicine and Rheumatology. This post holder will have joint General Medical and Rheumatology responsibilities. The job is a full-time post comprising 10 Programmed Activities (PAs). Applicants who wish to work less than full time are very welcome to apply. The post holder will have responsibility for medical inpatients in a newly-built block of Frimley Park Hospital opening in January 2025, joining the two other Physician / Rheumatologists on a rotational basis. The block will also house patients under the care of respiratory and renal teams, allowing close multi-disciplinary collaboration. The post holder will be part of the general medical on-call rota which is currently 1:8 weekends.

The post holder will have outpatient clinics on and off site. He/she will undertake a share of the administrative duties associated with the care of his/her patients, the running of the rheumatology department and the directorate. The post holder will play an important part in developing this service. In particular, Frimley Park is in the process of moving to a newly-built hospital site by 2030, and the post holder will have the opportunity to play an active role in the transformational plan associated with this exciting project. The setting up of a specialist interest clinic will also be encouraged.

The post will also involve teaching and supervision of junior staff, with involvement in teaching programmes within Frimley Park and within local GP surgeries. The post holder will be expected to engage with local patient groups (e.g. NRAS).

Audit is carried out on one half day per month throughout the hospital. Study leave and a study budget are provided for continuing professional development.

The appointee will have access to a medical secretary, dedicated office space plus full IT facilities including a trust laptop allowing remote working via the EPIC electronic patient record which we have been using since July 2022

Vacuum/mop sweep/damp mop/spot clean/spray buffing of floor surfaces, using machinery as required. High and low dust (including skirting boards/window ledges/curtain rails/notice boards/picture frames/furniture/doors and door stays) Vacuum carpeted areas, daily removal of spots or stains, and shampooing of carpets using machinery on housekeeping supervisor instruction. Collection and tagging of all rubbish, removing bags, clinical waste bins, sharps bins and flattened cardboard containers to designated collection points. A follow up clean of surfaces contaminated by body fluid spillage will be carried out after the initial clean by nursing staff (see Trust policy on dealing with spillage). Assist with catering duties where applicable, prepare and serve continental style breakfast to all patients if applicable. Prepare and serve drinks to patients as required. As a general medicine Trust Doctor (ST1 equivalent) you will provide care for medical patients at Frimley Park Hospital. With 3 rotations through several subspecialties in medicine including Older Peoples Medicine, Respiratory, Endocrinology, Gastroenterology, Cardiology, Acute medicine and Rheumatology in a year.
