The following skills and experience will be required and are essential for the successful candidates: Establish and maintain a working rapport with midwifery and medical, technical, ancillary and administration colleagues Help with cleaning and maintain tidiness in all areas, ensuring areas are free of clutter Assist with the cleaning of all equipment and quality testing of specialised equipment To be responsible for the maintenance of equipment at ward level, reporting and ensuring accurate records are kept and equipment retrieved and returned as necessary To check linen allocation daily, report any problems to the Ward Coordinator and liaise with the linen room to rectify problems. Ensure dirty linen is bagged and disposed of correctly Check emergency equipment is available by all beds, i.e. oxygen tubing, masks, suction Check oxygen and suction is working correctly and ensure portable oxygen cylinders are full Please see Job Description for full details of job specification and main responsibilities.

The post holder must be available to deploy the A-EQUIP model as required by the Trust. To support nurses to identify their own personal action for quality improvement if required. Use their understanding of personal and professional resilience and support others to develop this attribute. Ensure that there is a strong interface between the PNA and Clinical Governance at the NNUH. Use their expert knowledge in nursing practice to support the implementation and monitoring of practice, ensuring that there are robust clinical governance assurance systems in place. Provide support to nurses in sharing of good practice learnt through the risk management processes with the aim of reducing the incidence of harm and litigation cases. Be involved in continuous monitoring and maintaining quality standards of clinical practice through a variety of ways for example audit, working clinically with nurses for those who require additional support and development. Act as a role model at all times and promote a high standard of safe and effective care which is based upon best evidence. Meet with nurses in their designated area and/or caseload on either an appointment or ad hoc basis. Use effective communication strategies and influencing skills to achieve desired outcomes and make appropriate referrals for advocacy, mediation or arbitration. Support midwives to work in partnership with patients to develop plans of care which meet their individual needs, to listen to them and to advocate for them as required.
