Primary Care at EACH
EACH's Primary Care program delivers a range of services, including Medical, Nursing, Allied Health, and Oral Health, across Melbourne’s outer east. The General Practice and Nurse-Led Specialty Service provides high-quality medical and nursing support within this program.
Refugee Health Program
The Refugee Health Program helps refugees and asylum seekers access essential primary health services, enhances health service responses to their unique needs, and empowers communities to improve their health and wellbeing. The program serves newly arrived refugees and those with complex needs or gaps in healthcare access.
Through Medicare-funded bulk billing, sessional doctors, supported by a Refugee Health Nurse Practitioner and trained nurses, offer comprehensive refugee health assessments.
What You'll Be Doing
- Quality Care Delivery: Deliver outstanding healthcare services aligned with EACH’s quality standards and compliance requirements.
- Coordinated Care: Manage patient care plans, coordinate with external health providers, and ensure appropriate referrals to support optimal patient outcomes.
- Cultural Sensitivity: Utilize professional interpreters as needed to ensure clients can fully understand and participate in their healthcare journey.
- Clinical Meetings: Attend and contribute to clinical meetings, fostering a culture of shared learning and continuous improvement.
- Team Development: Encourage and support team members, actively contributing to a positive team culture aligned with EACH values.
- Professional Standards: Maintain accurate records, comply with Medicare Billing requirements, and uphold EACH’s Code of Conduct.
Skills and Experience We’re Looking For
- Advanced Clinical Expertise: Minimum of 2 years’ experience as a General Practitioner with excellent skills in managing complex clinical presentations.
- Refugee Health Focus: Qualifications and experience in refugee health, including working with complex clinical and psychosocial cases.
- Collaborative Mindset: Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team and independently as required.
- Cultural Competency: Proven experience building positive, culturally safe relationships with diverse clients, including refugees and asylum seekers.
- Interpersonal Skills: Highly developed communication skills, with a strong ability to consult, engage, and collaborate with clients and colleagues alike.
Essential Qualifications and Requirements
- GP Registration: Fully qualified, vocationally registered GP with FRACGP or ACRRM fellowship and current AHPRA registration.
- Background Checks: Completion of a Criminal History Check, Employee Working With Children Check, and Medical Indemnity Insurance.
- Desirable Knowledge: Familiarity with medical software (e.g., Medical Director) and a strong understanding of refugee support organisations and local services.
