This role will respond to emergencies, events, general appointments, alongside a paramedic/EMT, helping them to provide patients with potentially life-saving care and, where needed, getting patients to hospital. The role will be required to attend every kind of accident and emergency, sometimes covering considerable distances. You will be required to assist a qualified practitioner in the delivery of high quality and effective clinical and personal care and transportation of patients. There will also be a requirement to carry out allocated operational duties commensurate with the role and responsibilities, supporting the provision of clinical social and holistic care to patients.

A LYPFT research project (UPLIFT Asylum) has been awarded a grant to engage asylum seekers and refugees who areexperiencing perinatal mental illness, in research. We are going to do this via social media (TikTok and Instagram), a website, andwellbeing workshops. We are looking for an enthusiastic individual who has an interest in perinatal mental health and experiencewith social media to join the team. Working with the project team, asylum seekers and other stakeholders, they will providecomprehensive social media support through excellent and creative written, digital and face to face communication as well asassisting with organisation and running of focus groups and workshops. They will also support the Chief Investigator (CI) andmembers of the project team to successfully deliver the aims and objectives of the UPLIFT project. This is a unique project andone that will allow you to express yourself creatively in healthcare while engaging with a very vulnerable group who we hope willget great benefits from it. It will also provide you with experience in research, and the opportunity to work within the researchand development team.

In this role, you are accountable for: Developing and maintaining excellent working relationships with the Communications team at the Department of Health and Social Care and at other arms length bodies, journalists and senior managers at the NHSBSA. Acting as a business partner to specific service areas, working collaboratively with senior management teams to understand their communications challenges and developing innovative solutions that benefit the business and the customer, helping to deliver the NHSBSAs business strategy. Working closely with the Freedom of Information team to ensure context is provided to responses where appropriate. Taking a proactive approach to media relations and working with Heads of Service to brief key journalists on NHSBSA initiatives as appropriate. Writing press releases, media responses and content for external publications, ensuring appropriate tone of voice and that the NHSBSA narrative and key messages are reflected. Collating and delivering media and campaign monitoring reports, which will form part of an overall performance dashboard for the Communications and Marketing team. Dealing with highly complex and sensitive information where you will need to influence and persuade senior managers to take an appropriate communications approach. Managing crisis communications for your service area and working across the organisation to ensure messages are reflected internally and externally as appropriate. Developing, implementing and evaluating high quality, external communications campaigns using the Government Communication Service OASIS model to influence demand and behaviour change, particularly increasing awareness of our services and how to access them correctly. Ensuring your communications activity uses data and insight to understand what our customers need, how they behave, how we can change behaviour and to evaluate our work. Working with colleagues in the wider Communications and Marketing team to develop a communications forward plan to map out activity. Developing a good understanding of activity across the wider Communications and Marketing team to ensure work is complemented and not duplicated, and to identify joint opportunities for promotion. Building strong and positive relationships with senior colleagues and networks across the NHSBSA and acting as the communications link between your service area and other government departments, professional bodies and key journalists. In addition to the above accountabilities, as post holder you are expected to: Undertake additional duties and responsibilities in line with the overall purpose of your role and as agreed by your line manager. The Department processes around 470,000 specimens a year and is based in a modern laboratory that opened in 2006. The Department routinely works 9am until 9pm, utilising , core and late shifts. The successful applicant will be contracted to work 5 out of 7 days.

To be considered for this role, you should be able to particularly demonstrate the person specification criteria in the job advert in your application. However, applicants should be able to demonstrate all essential criteria through the entirety of the recruitment process to be considered for the job. The postholder is expected, after an appropriate length of time to settle in, to take part in the on-call out of hours rota one night a week for which an additional allowance is paid. The night can be flexible to meet commitments but as we are a small team it is not something that can be waived. You will be supported by a senior team member while on call. Previous experience of being on a rota would be helpful. The media team is London based. It is possible to work from the Manchester office but you will need to be comfortable working remotely from close team members. London team members attend the office two days a week (on a Tuesday and one other day). There will be occasional travel to the Manchester office for meetings and official business.
