You will have the opportunity to work for a global leading manufacturing organisation who're a well-respected and established firm. This firm is a world leader in the precision manufacturer of valves and fittings for the transportation of bulk liquids in the tank container, road tanker and rail industries. This organisation has its own state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities, having total control over all manufacturing processes from foundry to testing.
Your new role
- Utilising your strategic procurement experience, you will be involved with all aspects of developing the supply chain from cradle-to-grave.
- Responsible for the measurement and reporting of all key supplier metrics and KPI's across the portfolio of commodities.
- Builds and maintains information on supply market and key suppliers. Provides market trends and cost analysis/modelling to internal networks to improve long term cost position, drive best practices and ensure reliable supply
- Ensuring new suppliers adhere to the business's requirements and continue to do so for the life of the programme.
- You will champion Supplier Relationship Management to seek commercial benefits on behalf of the business.
What you'll need to succeed
- Engineering background with a minimum of 3–5 years previous experience in a Purchasing/Purchasing Management
- Competent use of purchasing modules within ERP/MRP system.
- Proven track record of controlling and reducing external spend whilst developing a robust supplier base.
- Experience of purchasing bespoke manufactured parts including scheduled deliveries.
- Management and coordination of purchasing activities with relation to cost, delivery and quality performance.
- Coordinating and managing with quality personnel, resolutions to Supplier Quality concerns, ensuring timely and effective containment and long-term resolutions.
- Mentoring new starters, providing ‘on the job' training to existing team members and ensuring that the team are satisfactorily supported in their day to day work activities.
- Continuous development of self and individual team members
