Position Summary
Thales is looking to hire a Test & Trials Engineer as part of our Engineering team. You will be responsible to support the development and management of the In-Service Test & Trial Program associated with the Royal Canadian Navy’s Arctic and Offshore Patrol Vessels (AOPV) and Joint Support Ship (JSS) class vessels, managed by Thales under the AOPS & JSS In-Service Support (AJISS) contract and Minor Warships and Auxiliary Vessels managed by Thales under the MWAV contract.
Key Areas of Responsibility
- Take lead role in the AJISS Test & Trial development and management of the In-Service Trial Agenda (ISTA) program for the Department of National Defense (DND).
- Work with the AJISS Engineering and Service Delivery teams to commission systems and equipment following preventative and corrective maintenance; Identify and manage system requirements to support verification and validation (V&V) activities.
- Develop test procedures to demonstrate system capability and compliance with classification society and DND regulations; Coordinate, plan, and execute V&V activities within delegated authorities and responsibilities and Conduct post-trial data analysis.
- Produce V&V reports and make recommendations; Reviewing drawings and technical documents ;Initiating and contributing to engineering change proposals; Preparing documents/reports such as pre and post refit condition assessments, test & trials, process workflows, OPDEF close-outs, installation set-to-work, and Physical Condition Audits.
- Develop strong working practices with DND’s Fleet Maintenance Facility (FMF) and Service Providers to promote best working practices; and Provide engineering and technical support to the AJISS Enterprise via technical investigations.
Minimum Requirements
- An Engineering degree in mechanical or electrical engineering or naval architecture.
- Minimum of 5 years maritime experience in Ship Repair, Ship Building or Ship Operational Experience
- P.Eng in British Columbia
- Project Management and/or System Engineering experinc
- Familiar with the usage of CAD models;
Special Position Requirements
- Mix of office work and work in dockyards and onboard Naval Ships;
- Will be required to undertake inspections in machinery spaces of Naval ships involving bending and twisting;
- Willing to work aloft and in confined spaces on board ships (training to be provided).
Pay Transparency
The anticipated Total Target Compensation (TTC), inclusive of annual salary and bonus eligibility, for this role is based on 70,350.00 - 100,500.00 - 136,582.00 CAD Annual range. The Company reserves the right to ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and offer additional benefits and other compensation, depending on circumstances not related to an applicant’s status protected by local, provincial, and federal laws.
