We have a rare opportunity for a skilled and enthusiastic individual to join our Housing Need Strategy Team to take a lead role in setting the strategic direction and operational performance of the Housing Need Service. This role is a specialist role with a particular focus on improving the performance and delivery of the Housing Access team. Working closely with the manager, you will programme a range of quality assurance and improvement work that aligns with the workplan of the wider strategy team in terms of auditing officer decisions and processes, taking forward improvements, and ensuring compliance with statutory duties. The role supports the service drive to deliver compliant, customer focussed and high-quality services to people who a threatened with homelessness or who are homeless.
The post holder will take on a range of development opportunities arising from a recent organisational change restructure, and will create a new appeals programme, deal with customer satisfaction issues, and seek to learn from this in order to identify areas for improvement. You will work across all service teams in order to build agile ways of working to deliver good outcomes, and drive up performance.
Who we are looking for
We are looking for skilled and motivated individual who has a deep understanding of the Housing Options and homeless functions, and is experienced in assessing homeless decisions with a high degree of accuracy. We are looking for applicants who have excellent communication skills and can help sustain our strong partnership working with our key partners, and can deliver information targeted to the audience. You will be experienced in working with groups of staff and individuals on delivering feedback on performance, and constructively helping them improve their individual skills.

This is a permanent post, and will help the manager of the strategy team drive forward the improvement programme for the Housing Need Service, and will support the Housing Access Operational Manager in building capacity and capability of the Housing Access team.
The successful candidate will have access to West Lothian Council’s Pool Car Scheme in order to undertake approved business travel.
