This role will require you to use your existing skills to create suitable solutions to data related challenges. Utilising existing and new technology to create a single version of the truth that helps to mitigate potential risks and to reduce the administration burden on your colleagues.
The Role:
The role is responsible for managing and enhancing the data quality of one of CCS’ largest categories. You will be covering the provision of products and services related to gas, electricity, fuels and water to public sector customers.
Within our gas and electricity frameworks there are over 1,200 customers and over 90k meter points. The role is primarily responsible for developing and delivering innovative solutions to enhance the quality, efficiency and robustness of data across the Energy frameworks. This includes completing data quality assessments, developing and enhancing data management processes and practices, creating dashboards and MI and delivering creative solutions to mitigate the risk of data errors.
Commercial overview:
Commercial is the largest directorate in CCS and is responsible for the design, development, implementation and management of our commercial agreements, which are used by our customers across the public sector. We have helped our customers:
Category management sits at the heart of CCS. We use our deep knowledge and expertise of public sector suppliers, to create market and category strategies. These strategies are used within CCS to create market leading commercial agreements that help shape how common goods and services are bought across the public sector.
Our skills are also used in carrying out commercial policy, development of new products and services and supplier relationship management.
Team Summary
The Energy Team manages spend of c.£4bn p.a. and supports buyers from every area of central government and the wider public sector - encompassing, gas, electricity, fuels and water. The Team has a variety of specialisms, including specialist customer service, portfolio management, trading and risk teams.
The Data Quality Manager role falls within the Portfolio Management team, responsible for ensuring the accuracy and quality of data, delivering increased robustness in our data management practices and mitigating the risk of errors.
Key Accountabilities
Delivering activities to improve the robustness, quality and efficiency of the data management practices within the Energy team
Leading the review of data management practices across Energy, including interfaces with customers and suppliers
Completion of data quality assessments and the identification and delivery of improvements, with the aim of delivering a ‘single source of the truth’
Developing and delivering improvement plans to enhance the effectiveness of how data is processed and managed, including monitoring their effectiveness
Creating and managing processes that are needed for effective data quality management across Energy, ensuring processes are implemented and maintained across the team
Development of user guidance and work packages to ensure data management practices are documented, understood and adhered to
Development of data dashboards and MI to support the management of Energy frameworks
Identifying and delivering innovative ways to automate and enhance data management practices within Energy
Building strong relationships across Energy and the wider organisation to understand data requirements and engage with relevant stakeholders, such as data owners, data managers, data architects, data engineers and data users, in resolving quality issues
Supporting the development of a roadmap of data quality work and prioritisation of data quality enhancements
Ensuring that existing data and automation related skills are utilised to achieve key objectives.
Some travel is required
Essential Criteria (to be assessed on application):
Experience and understanding of Azure (e.g. Data Factory, Logic Apps), SQL, Excel, databases, data models and other programming languages (ideally with certification)
Experience identifying and delivering data driven solutions and processes to improve the quality and accuracy of large disparate datasets
Experience conducting data quality audits and delivery of process improvements
A solution oriented mindset, focusing upon problem solving and delivering value from opportunities
Experience of building, maintaining, and influencing relationships via meaningful conversations with both internal and external stakeholders
Desirable Criteria:

Working flexibly, delivering outcomes
CCS is a flexible business with a smarter working model where our colleagues benefit from a mix of home and office working. Successful candidates are expected to work from one of the office locations listed. Our current office attendance approach requires a minimum of 26 days per quarter (approx 2 days per week, which may be subject to change) in CCS office locations or off site meetings with suppliers, customers, partners, networking / industry events. This is pro rata for those who work part time.
