Bury Council’s Adult Learning Service is seeking to recruit a Senior Manager to join its Senior Leadership Team. Joining this team will give you the opportunity to take responsibility for leading a team of Programme Managers in developing and delivering a range of innovative learning opportunities to support the existing and emerging needs of Bury residents. We are looking for someone with extensive experience at a senior management level in the post-sixteen education sector, within an adult learning setting. Ideally you will have played a significant role in co-ordinating a curriculum offer which responds to National, Regional and Local priorities.

Also of critical importance is the ability to demonstrate a proven track record of successful change management, relationship building, quality improvement and a passion for leading successful teams.

You will have thorough knowledge of the Education Inspection Framework and be able to demonstrate an ability to develop and deliver quality improvement strategies, in line with regulatory requirements and policy expectations within the exciting devolved administrative environment of Greater Manchester.

Senior Control Systems Engineer

An opportunity exists for a Senior Control Systems Engineer in vertically integrated provider of energy control solutions experiencing a strong period of growth. The role has responsibility for designing control systems for power generation, protection systems and rotating machinery. Specifically, this will include genset and power station control, electrical-mechanical protection and turbine controls (gas, steam, hydro).
• Perform, and lead, complex software/hardware TSP creation, test setups/troubleshooting, engine calibration, emissions testing, testing of customer/internal hardware/software.
• Create and update BOM's, wiring diagrams, drawings, electrical schematics, test plans, training material, creation of O&M manuals for customers.
• Supervise FAT and SAT.
• Coordinate project milestones/project scope and ensures activities associated with the PLC process and department level procedures are adhered to.
• Mentor and assist level 1 and 2 engineers.
• Participate or lead projects in analyzing and sizing of third party internal/external products and definition.
• Support the commercial group in proposal creation, technical support commercial offers, and customer presentations.

Requirements

A senior post in Ipswich Borough Council in one of its largest front line services. The Maintenance and Contracts service spends circa. £25 million annually repairing, maintaining and improving a retained housing stock of approximately 7500 properties and 15 sheltered schemes to our local “Ipswich Standard”. The Council takes a holistic approach to building safety and stock management and has one seamless service that is now responsible for everything in connection with the asset management of that stock; from initial design to completing works on site on a right first-time basis using our own directly employed trade teams.

Compliance and Building Safety Manager will be a senior management post within the Maintenance & Contracts (Housing) service dedicated to continuous improvement, efficient services and improving housing safety and standards for our customers. Building Safety and Compliance is at the top of the Council’s priorities. Most of the compliance related contracts are managed by a number of Surveyors and Contract Managers, so your role would largely be working alongside these Officers and reporting on the compliance as a whole.

Housing is a flagship service of Ipswich Borough Council and it is a service that is vital for our tenants and very much in the public eye – as you would expect with such a range of work. Our employees and appointed contractors do everything from day-to-day repairs, refurbishing properties whilst void, disabled adaptations, major regeneration, planned and capital improvement schemes as well as providing a Community Caretaking Service. To be responsible for ensuring and reporting on compliance within UK Compliance Standards across all the Council’s housing stock.
