Directs a highly technical workforce, including functionally integrated teams of operational and support personnel, that provides air traffic control services throughout a geographic area. The work impacts the safe, orderly. and expeditious movement of aircraft as well as segments of the aviation industry. Continuously reviews work processes to assure that results meet the agency's mission and the customer's needs, add value to facility services, and are efficiently achieved. Provides training, coaching, and guidance to subordinates, and is responsible for team building throughout the facility. Plans work to be accomplished by subordinates. Sets and adjusts long and short-term priorities. Approves leave; prepares schedules for completion of work; assigns work to subordinates based on priorities; evaluates work performance of subordinates ensuring equity of performance standards and ratings; gives advice on work and on administrative matters; makes decisions on work problems presented by subordinates; hears and resolves group grievances and serious employee complaints; effects disciplinary actions; recommends/approves selections and transfers; recommends awards or bonuses; approves expenses for overtime, equipment, and personnel within the facility; and identifies and arranges for developmental and other training needs of subordinates. The primary purpose of this position is: To ensure quality characteristics are met for product quality verification on aircraft, systems, and products. Also to provide effective and comprehensive oversight and management of a government contract program located in the 301st Fighter Wing.

• Develops and implements a structured and systematic quality assurance surveillance program for all facets of integrated logistics support, providing maintenance managers with the assurance that propulsion system contractors, fleet maintainers, fleet operators, program office engineers and logisticians, and airworthiness authority delegates adhere to customer required specifications in technical, safety, deliverables, and reporting directives
• Consolidates data collection processes for clear and concise reporting, utilized by all levels in the management chain for evaluation, inspection, and audit programs. Independently evaluates the results and, where necessary, recommends the most appropriate corrective action to command level management
• Reviews aircraft field sustainment repairs and maintenance, gathers metrics and prepares reports to initiate corrective action if results indicate contract standards or performance requirements are not met
• Identifies and documents vulnerabilities within the inspection and acceptance of supplies/service to ensure safety of flight

The Operations Supervisor reports to the Air Traffic Manager. Performance is evaluated upon the effectiveness with which assigned program objectives are achieved.

This is a career ladder progression position; the duties described below are at the GS-11 level. If selected at a grade below GS-11, the incumbent will serve in a developmental capacity, wherein the work is less complex in nature and the supervisor, or a senior level employee provides specific instruction and guidance. At the GS-11 grade level, the incumbent:

• Independently conducts a wide variety of onsite safety and health inspections and investigations of mining operations as applicable, mills, preparation plants and related facilities.
• Prepares written reports of inspections and investigations, issuing citations and orders for violations found during examinations.
• Promotes safety and health among mine operators and workers by directing and participating in safety and health training programs, meetings, demonstrations, mine rescue competitions, and related activities.
• Provides technical advice and guidance to mine operators to help them solve problems and comply with mine safety and health requirements.
• Assists mine operators in the planning of modifications to improve and/or correct deficiencies in the operation such as selecting and installing new equipment and changing materials or methods.
• Promotes safety and health among mine operators and workers by directing and participating in safety and health training programs, meetings, demonstrations, mine rescue competitions, and related activities.
• Serves as a MSHA representative and information source on mine safety and health.
• Testifies at judicial hearings regarding notices of violations and orders of withdrawal.

Work Environment: The incumbent inspects and/or investigates both surface and underground mining operations as applicable, which is a very hazardous and stressful work environment surrounded by a high risk of exposure to potentially dangerous situations. In addition to the characteristically dark, wet, and cramped environment, underground mines contain noxious gases and fumes, and the danger of potentially explosive dust or gases, electrical fires, roof falls, and exposure to radiation.

• Performs strategic assessments necessary to continue assembly and sustained operations of the International Space Station (ISS), Artemis, Gateway, or the Extra-Vehicular Activity (EVA) and Human Surface Mobility Program (EHP).
• Leads coordination on the implementation of Federal and Agency aerospace safety standards and requirements that are applicable to aerospace and aeronautical programs and vehicle systems operations.
• Supports policy development, requirements analysis and definition, technical evaluations and makes recommendations to management within their functional and/or technical area of expertise.
• Recommends ways to resolve technical difficulties that can be overcome by changes in approach, criteria or requirements.
• Reviews, assesses, and makes recommendations to Program and Division Offices regarding integrated hazard analyses, risk assessments and evaluations of operations safety to ensure compliance with approved requirements to minimize operational risks.
• Conducts branch or group meetings/reviews for design reviews as a technical lead.
• Performs strategic assessments necessary to continue assembly, sustained and new operations for human, rover and robotic spaceflight.
• Consults with management and planning personnel in preparing requirements and criteria for complex or high value projects for construction or modification of systems, software, or hardware.

• You will perform a visual inspection of assigned areas (e.g., buildings, structures, aircraft hangar) for violations of fire codes (e.g., fire hazards, housekeeping, defective wiring).
• You will instruct fire prevention and fire extinguisher training for an organization.
• You will prepare inspection reports to document findings of fire safety deficiencies.
• You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.

• The duties described are for the full-performance level. At developmental grade levels, assignments will be of more limited scope, performed with less independence and limited complexity. The duties may include, but are not limited to:
• Inspects premises in and bordering the quarantine zone, and investigates additions to or losses of livestock from such herds.
• Makes periodic inspections of vacated premises to detect bad fences, cattle tracks, or other evidence of illegal use of the premises.
• Rides horseback and checks all fences in and bordering the quarantine zone to ascertain that they are adequate to prevent intermingling of livestock and consequent exposure to fever tick carriers.
• Collects physical information which may involve sign-cutting and tracking techniques, and uses this information to detect and apprehend strayed or smuggled Mexican livestock.
• Assists with inspection and testing of livestock, poultry, and other avian species on ranches, farms, auctions, markets, etc., to detect animal diseases and parasites.
• Makes arrangements with owners and independently draws blood samples from animals and poultry, conducts necessary serologic tests, tags, brands, appraises reactor animals, and reports findings.
• Oversees the cleaning and disinfection of vehicles and premises that are contaminated by disease organisms or as a precautionary measure.
