Principal build contractor are looking for a Senior/Site Engineer for a QA/Checking role on the construction of a new build student accommodation project. Due to some of the nature of works involved it requires an engineer that has current/previous experience working on projects that include reinforced concrete frames/structures.

Reporting to the Senior Operations Manager your primary role will be the supervision for the groundworks/frame contractor ensuring that their setting out works are completed and correctly checked for the main building for a new student accommodation building which also includes a reinforced concrete basement, the provision of as built records, QA documentation as well as input with any planning and design issues. You will also be involved with site progress meetings providing input into the delivery of the project

CSCS Card will be a mandatory requirement as well as a proven track record doing a QA engineer role

Position: We are seeking a Quality & Exams Assistant to be based at our Stornoway campus.

Responsibilities: The post holders will assist in all aspects of the service provided by the Quality and Examinations Team. You will ensure that efficient quality assurance, enhancement and improvement processes are implemented, maintained and evaluated.

Qualifications, Experience and Skills: The suitable candidates will have a good general standard of education with a minimum SCQF Level 6. Experience of using computerised administration systems and working in a professional office environment as essential. You must have good communication skills and have strong attention to detail/accuracy skills. An HNC Level 7 in an administration or business area or equivalent experience would be advantageous.

A level of Gaelic ability would be advantageous to your application.

Salary: £28,453 to £29,753 per annum, Plus Islands Allowance

Based within the Traffic & Network Management Team you will be inspecting activities on the Staffordshire highways network including parking permits, street works permit activity, highways licences and temporary/permanent traffic regulation orders with the aim of assessing suitability and minimising disruption and congestion, keeping traffic moving, ensuring safety and compliance on the network and providing a vital service to the residents of Staffordshire.

You will:

• be working closely with the Officers, Administrators and Coordination Managers and using your knowledge and skills to assess the impact of applications.
• use your judgement to provide advice and apply amendments, controls or restrictions to work carried out in order to achieve the goals of the Traffic Management Act 2004 and the New Roads & Streetworks Act 1991 (NRSWA).
• be interpreting and implementing the NRSWA Code of Practice for Inspections and the Specification for the Reinstatement of Openings in the Highway (SROH).
• reporting into the Traffic & Network Inspections Managers, you will maintain precise and accurate records of inspection activities.
• liaise with various internal and external companies, authorities and stakeholders.
• look to achieve resolutions to defective work and apparatus on the highway whilst maintaining departmental goals.

You will:

• Have excellent inter-personal and customer service skills.
• Be a highly motivated, self-starter with a drive to succeed, demonstrating a positive ‘Can do’ attitude.
• Be able to deal with a range of issues and conflicting demands whilst adhering to relevant legislation and delivering to tight deadlines and keeping calm under pressure.

What you’ll have:

• Hold or be willing to train to acquire required accreditation – LANTRA 12D (M7) Supervisor as a minimum
• Demonstrable experience as NRSWA - Supervisor
• Previous experience in traffic and network management
• Experience of dealing with permits, licences and road works on the public highway
• Ability to interrogate data and make recommendations
• Full UK driving licence
