Traffic and Transportation Team Leader
Grade 4 Level 2 – 5
£49,108.06 to £53,725.06
We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, motivated, and committed individual to lead our Traffic and Transportation team.
Experience in traffic and transportation engineering, road safety, strategy development, funding bids and sustainable transport is essential.
You should also have extensive experience of legislative and technical aspects in this area of work (e.g. TSRGD, traffic signs manual and relevant Acts) and in the development and delivery of minor and major traffic and transportation related projects including the procurement and financial processes required.
A working knowledge of existing strategy and policy within this field and the ability to effectively shape and direct its future development will be required.
You should be able to work under pressure to specific deadlines and directions, whilst leading and directing this specialist team to do the same.
A commitment to customer focus, service delivery and responsiveness will be vital as will the ability to commit to our constant efforts to refine and improve service delivery.
Successful candidates must have a HNC in a relevant subject, which supports the qualities needed for this role, and ideally you should be an Incorporated or Chartered Engineer or working towards this.
You must have the ability to travel throughout the Council area.
The successful candidate will be based at the Council’s Almada Street complex in Hamilton although the Council operate a flexible approach with the ability to work a hybrid model where appropriate.
This is an exciting opportunity to lead this specialist team tasked with taking forward several important Local Transport Strategy priorities as well as progressing some key elements of the Glasgow City Region City Deal projects.

Responsibilities
Liaise with Engineering Manager on all matters including traffic and transportation engineering, road safety, strategy development, funding bids and sustainable transport, works programmes, Councillor and stakeholder enquiries.
Assist the Engineering Manager in financial monitoring and control of the revenue and capital budgets.
Assist and manage all Health and Safety requirements including duties under the CDM Regulations.
Help secure performance of all staff through instruction, development and setting/assessing performance standards.
Lead in the development of various policy and strategies such as future Local Transport Strategy and Cycling Strategy.
