Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities

- Carrying out routine Maintenance to site Electrical and Facilities Equipment within a set schedule. Ensuring engineering standards are maintained to maximise the operational effectiveness and reliability of the Plant and associated electrical systems.
- Carrying out Electrical Installations including Testing and Certification
- Carry out 5 Year Fixed Electrical Testing as required
- Complete test and Inspection Certificates in line with Client requirements
- Supporting the wider team in other areas where required related to customer requirements.
- Respond in a prompt and effective manner to all electrically related reactive maintenance issues and help desk requests.
- Electrical fault diagnosis associated with the PPM or Reactive maintenance of the site.
- Keeping the CAFM system updated with works carried out.
- Ensuring onsite Quality Assurance procedures are adhered to in all respects and to maintain accurate records/documentation associated the electrical aspects of the PPM and plant.
- Work with specialist sub-contractors associated with electrical aspects of the PPM schedules.
- Liaising with the relevant managers daily to confirm all works are going to plan and no delays.
- Provide technical feedback in relation to work and equipment as required.
- Complete ad hoc tasks as requested by line manager.
- Adherence to set engineering standards in accordance with Health and Safety at Work Act (HASAWA) requirements.

Qualifications, Experience, Knowledge and Skills

Essential

- City & Guilds Electrical Installation Level 3 2330 / 2360 OR Equivalent.
- City & Guilds 18th Edition BS7671
- Must have at least 3 years’ experience working as a qualified Electrician.
- Must have at least 3 years’ experience working within an Industrial/Commercial environment.
- Good understanding of health and safety requirements within a building environment
- Must have a good understanding of Installation methods and selection of equipment required in Industrial premises’
- Ability to read and understand technical drawings
- Experience of working within a customer focused environment.

Overall Purpose:

Optical Assistant - Salary

• Base salary up to £27,000

UKAEA is leading the drive to put fusion energy on the grid, to give the world a new form of long-term, sustainable low-carbon electricity. At their sites at Culham, Oxfordshire and Rotherham, South Yorkshire, they have a rapidly growing workforce to fulfil their expanding programme of research, focused on delivering the UK's first fusion prototype power plant by 2040.

Finance business partners within a major programme or central team, provide a key role in supporting the delivery of business objectives. Providing planning & analysis, accounting, reporting and costing support to inform decision making and drive financial performance.

Whether providing financial input into a new business case or closing the monthly accounts, accuracy, timeliness, collaboration and understanding of performance essential.

Accountabilities

• Review and analyse performance, producing reports and commentary for individual project managers and business unit management to enable monitoring of profitability against budget and recommend corrective action if required.
• To provide costing information into project managers and finance review of proposals as required, to enable bids and contracts to be issued on a timely basis.
• Preparation and analysis of month end accounts, ensuring accurate recognition of expenditure & revenue in accordance with UKAEA financial policy. Working closely with your business area and in collaboration with the broader finance team.
• Support the business budgeting and forecast processes, build productive relationship with project managers and senior managers to enable the creation of robust budgets and periodic forecasts at project and at a consolidated business unit level.
• To produce formal financial customer reports and liaise with auditors (UK and European) in order to facilitate payment for work performed.
• Support the maintenance of a robust control environment, including responsibility for relevant balance sheet accounts appropriate to the business area, such as prepayments, accruals, Work in Progress, Income in Advance are fully reconciled with adequate supporting documentation available for audit purposes.
• Liaise with the Capital Project Accountant over the reporting of capital expenditure and associated commentary to ensure clarity as to spending and reasons for variances
• Support finance wide initiatives, such as testing of new reports & upgrades.

Essential

• At least part-qualified, qualified by experience, or working towards a qualification in a relevant professional accounting body;
• Experience of working closely with business teams in a "business partner" capacity
• To understand the principles of revenue recognition
• To have an appreciation of multi-funding control requirements
• Highly proficient in Excel and have experience of an ERP accounting system [Unit 4 (Agresso) would be an advantage]
• Able to work on occasion to challenging timescales while still ensuring accuracy
• Team player

Desirable

• Experience of commercial accounting and project costing and forecasting
