The role
As a Business Development Manager, you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary and be involved in a number of key long-term multi-million-pound campaigns, capturing plans to shape and deliver business opportunities to the MoD and Tier 1 industry.
Day to day, you'll act as the main point of contact for the Submarine Support Engineering (SSE) team identifying business and customer opportunities that contribute to the Naval Nuclear and SSE major growth campaigns to:
- Support the Senior Business Development Manager achieve SSE Business growth targets (order intake, revenue and profit) and/or execution of key campaigns.
- Provide campaign and business development guidance to aide senior managers to define, capture and execute SMART objectives that drives business growth and/or capability enhancement.
- Lead and shape our role on the Naval Development Partnership framework.
- Establish and maintain good customer relationships with key internal/external customers and developing solutions to problems that add value to what they do.
- Capture customer issues, hot buttons, budgets, key influencers, decision makers and populating our business development systems with this data.
- Bid management oversight of key opportunities from prospecting, influencing, engaging, prequalifying, proposing, closing and transitioning.
This role is full time, 35 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements with days in the office/onsite and days working from home.
Essential experience of the Business Development Manager:
- Ability to build customer relationships, understanding, analysing and capturing their issues and requirements and finding them SSE solutions that add value.
- Demonstrate understanding on how campaigns and capture plans can be shaped to meet customer requirements and to drive the necessary long term growth opportunities.
- Support the SSE Engineering and IT teams to articulate business outcomes and SMART objectives that drive a positive pipeline of opportunities.
- Ability to recognise and identify business opportunities and innovatively apply knowledge of our products and services to exploit those with the customer identifying the +ve and -ve discriminators for the opportunity.
- Able to define, identify, collate, record and appropriately disseminate customer/market/competitor requirements, needs and capabilities in order to enable business development decision making.
- Able to understand how to put together a marketing plan and use communications and channels to drive greater awareness of our services and greater growth opportunities.
