As our Senior Business Change Manager, you’ll be at the forefront of driving change across MaPS.
About Us:
Money and Pensions Service has a new opportunity for a Senior Business Change Manager to join a mission driven organisation to help transform the lives of UK citizens.
Just over 12 months ago, MaPS created a single Portfolio and Change with a view to improve maturity in this key department. This new role will be critical in evolving MaPS business change framework, and you will be instrumental in supporting the Head of Change Portfolio to develop the business change service across the Portfolio.
Key Accountabilities
- Leadership and delivery – Provide visible and effective leadership to MaPS on business change management. Lead on developing MaPS business change management framework and business change management planning - to successfully deliver of agreed business change. Introduce best practice on business change management standards, tools and processes. Build strong networks both internally and externally. Assess and understand the impact on stakeholders to improve the likelihood of their adoption of the change.
- Change products - Lead on the creation and introduction of required business change products across MaPS project and programmes. Ensure products are used appropriately by the Project/Programme Managers and Business Leads from across the organisation. Proactively prepare the business for the impact of the agreed changes being delivered and support continuous improvement through the development of the business change strategy and plans.
- Change planning – Create and deliver MaPS business change plan. Develop detailed change impact assessments and secure a shared view of the impacts across areas impacted, multiple project/programme teams and the business area sponsoring by the change. Provide a bridge between projects/ programmes and the business users to ensure that activities are planned and completed to enable the business to implement the agreed change and realise the business benefits. Business change activities will include, amongst others things: communication plans, engagement materials, training needs analysis, contribute to capturing benefits, benefit realisation plans, go-live readiness plans and supporting the transition to BAU.
- Business case – Support MaPS teams in delivering high quality business case content including business change plans to support the realisation of defined benefits, developing change communication plans, and developing business transition plan across multiple years.
- Benefits management – Lead on impact assessments of all MaPS business change activities across the change portfolio. Create an environment that enable the delivery of identified benefits.
- Business Readiness – Lead on the business readiness criteria before approval of these plans or their implementation. Support teams in monitoring business readiness and advice on ‘go/no go’ decision across all business change.
- Change communication – Lead on the business change messaging and development of business change communications requirements across change activities. Coach teams on effective business change communications.
- Stakeholder Management – Identify, classify, and update stakeholder engagement plan. Lead on stakeholder engagement on projects/programmes to ensure they met Business Change requirements.
- Provide direction, guidance and coaching to project/programme/business teams on all aspects of business change management.

Essential Criteria
You will need to demonstrate the following skills and experience:
- Change management qualifications (e.g. PROSCI, PMI, APMG) or equivalent.
- Ability to understand new concepts and quickly appreciate what will be needed to deliver the desired outcomes.
- Ability to work with a range of stakeholders with a broad set of experiences and seniority across MaPS.
- Resilience in delivering at pace and to tight deadlines.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills to ensure the efficient implementation of business change.
- Demonstrable experience of managing complex change activities in an evolving and very complex environment.
- Solid organisation design, service model design and implementation experience.
- Demonstratable experience in setting up and using business change toolkits.
- Deep experience of delivering projects/programmes using agile delivery methods in a waterfall organisational environment. Have a full understanding of projects/programme management responsibility.
- Experienced of coaching colleagues in the use of business change tools, templates and best practice.
- Exceptional stakeholder management. Experience of complex stakeholder management across a diverse range of stakeholders.
- A deep understanding of project/programme management responsibilities and extensive experience of working with complex projects/programmes.
- Be comfortable dealing with ambiguity and able to elicit the necessary information from stakeholder to understand the wider context.
- Experienced of working in an ALB or Government department.
Desirable Criteria:
- An understanding of the interdependencies between technology, creative, operations and business needs, through strong stakeholder management and relationships.
- Able to clearly communicate the goals and path to benefits realisation of the change to the organisation.
- Confidence and credibility to intervene and/or provide constructive challenge to ensure the efficient implementation of business change.
- Budget and cost management experience.
- Business planning and KPI setting and monitoring experience.
- Flexible, collaborative and open working style.
