What you'll need to succeed
We are looking for a qualified accountant, ideally with relevant post-qualification experience. Ideally, this will be from a professional services organisation, but other industry experience would be considered. Ideally, you will have had experience of managing junior members of staff and have the ability to build strong relationships across the business. In addition, it would be beneficial if you had strong modelling and excellent skills and exposure to Power BI would be an added bonus.

The role is a Business Support Officer to support notetaking in Safeguarding Children’s Case Conferences, Adult Safeguarding meetings, Fostering Panel and support to Disabled Colleague's Network.

Key Responsibilities and activities Working with the Business Manager play a leading role in the overall business support of the Cancer Alliance. Enhance SWAG Cancer Alliance patient experience and outcomes by helping to deliver efficient and responsive business management. Contribute to service planning and development including the preparation of business case and plans. Effective communication and stakeholder management with a range of organisations and individuals, drafting correspondence and papers and ensuring the management of specific tasks, lead reporting and analysis across a range of specialties, functions and activities. Work with the senior management team, NHS England Regional Assurance Team and the National Cancer Programme Team to ensure the objectives of the Long-Term Plan for Cancer are achieved through strong business support activities. Assist with the planning and assurance/reporting processes. Proactively devise and provide improvements to current management information, analysing, reporting, and suggesting procedures to enhance decision making processes. Support development and implementation of the communications plan including annual reports and newsletters. Develop, implement and maintain departmental policies and guidelines. Skills/Experience Knowledge and proven track record of health service management, including business management and communications (essential). Knowledge and experience of the national context and strategy for cancer (desirable). Good information management and IT skills, including common software packages (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Access, design software Canva) (essential). Experience of project management including key stakeholder engagement (essential). Experience with finance systems and budget management including procedures for procurement and for invoicing (essential). Your key responsibilities will include: Provide support on contract and agreement matters, business operations and diagnostic output monitoring to the laboratory management team and members of the divisional office. Ensure Specialist Microbiology Services Network Managers and Laboratory Management receive appropriate contract management, business operations and diagnostic output monitoring support; this involves working closely with the Microbiology Network Managers and Laboratory Management Teams in the provision of appropriate information. To support the production of contracts, activity reports, diagnostic outputs and business reporting and support the maintenance of a monitoring systems and agreements databases. Support ensuring those NHS contracts and reports submitted for review are compatible with the standard NHS contract clauses and strategic objectives and highlight issues including financial, safety and quality impacts. Provide information and support to the SMS Operations lead on all aspects of activity data including data collection and validation relating to regular outputs such as the regional activity indicators, and monitoring and analysis of such data. Assist the Head of Operations in the establishment and maintenance of robust systems and processes for administration, risk management and business support across the division.
