Short summary

The Quantitative Stem Cell Biology lab, headed by Dr Silvia Santos, is seeking a Senior Laboratory Research Scientist (SLRS). The successful candidate will investigate spatio-temporal control of cell division and cell cycle remodelling during cellular differentiation using 2D and 3D stem cell-based models of human gastrulation. The postholder will drive a research project and contribute to collaborative projects within the lab. The postholder will benefit from excellent mentorship and training.

The research group
The Quantitative Stem Cell Biology lab, headed by Dr Silvia Santos, was established in 2018 at the Francis Crick Institute. The lab’s primary focus is understanding cell decision-making. Current areas of research include understanding regulatory mechanism regulating cell fate specification, cell cycle remodeling during cellular differentiation and the interplay between metabolism, cell cycle and cell fate. There is a strong focus on single cell analysis and advanced live cell imaging. The lab uses a variety of model systems: mouse and human embryonic stem cells (ESC), 3D organoid models of mouse and human development and mouse embryos.
The team is multi-disciplinary, diverse and currently composed of three PhD students, two post-doctoral fellow and one principal laboratory research scientist. The Santos lab promotes independent and creative thinking and all members are committed to providing excellent training and mentorship.

We are one of the largest cardiac MRI scanning centres in the UK. Our Imaging Clinical Research Facility is based in our St Thomas Hospital campus with strong research collaboration focusing on the development of novel acquisition, reconstruction and motion correction using different field strength MRI scanners. The facility is run by King’s College London, the University partner in close partnership with Guy’s & St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust. Clinical services are delivered to approximately 13,000 patients a year (Cardiac MRI, Perinatal MRI and the PET Centre), and were recently re-accredited in accordance with the Quality Standard for Imaging (QSI) 2021

We are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Cardiac MRI Radiographer to join our nationally accredited clinical research imaging team. The department supports and mentors Radiographers in their personal and professional development including actively encouraging staff to attend high profile national and international seminars, conferences, presenting posters, abstracts and presentations.

Job description

We are recruiting support workers/care assistants to work with children and young adults who have learning disabilities, Autism, and mental health. The role will involve supporting these clients within their homes or to access facilities in the community.

Key Responsibilities:

· Providing help with all aspects of personal care

· Facilitating socialisation and social activities e.g. visiting family/friends, walks, cinema/theatre, meals out, going for a drive (where required), reading, etc.

· Monitoring progress and recording notes on daily record sheets relating to each visit.

· Liaise with families, friends, advocates, external agencies, and the management team to provide a consistent approach that meets the individual needs of each service user.

· To create opportunities for Service Users to develop establish and maintain personal relationships and social networks, which encourage greater participation and integration in their chosen communities.

· To carry out duties as the Specialist Manager reasonably stipulates.

· Preserve independence & dignity of service users as much as possible.

· Report any changes/issues concerning the service user or the care being provided to the office team.

· Observation of mental alertness and general physical condition.

· Reading and abiding by the care plan set out by the assessor in the Service User’s guide.

· Supporting and understanding each individual's service user’s needs.

· To report back any areas of risk, not previously identified, to manage.

· To participate in training courses/seminars held internally and by outside agencies.

· To attend and engage in regular supervisions, appraisals, and performance review.

Job Specification:
- Good verbal and written communication skill.
- Have a passion for supporting children/adults with learning disabilities.
- Possess minimum of 6 months experience of providing care and/or support to vulnerable people.
- Be able to develop and maintain good working relationships.
- Physically fit and able to undertake safe manual handling practices.

Skills/Qualifications:
- Minimum qualification of NVQ Level 3
